About AgeofSail
The Age of Sail...
Age of Sail is treasure, lost and found and made new once again. Composed of gold-fill and vintage brass chains, gold fill and sterling silver vintage components and gemstones, lost riches are lovingly restored and composed into fresh adornments.
Over the years, Jen has sailed the seas as a salty Sailor of the US Navy, designed her own line of jewelry, penned books, photographed food and lifestyle for some of the most notable titles on the newsstands and in 2012, fulfilled a lifetime dream with CISTHENE. With a cult-like following CISTHENE featured handmade jewelry from all over the world and a highly covetable collection of apothecary goods. Featured in VOGUE, Refinery29, Lucky Magazine, Time Magazine and countless others, Jen's eye for curation was lauded by customers and editors alike. With the opening of Age of Sail, Jen weaves her magic once again... but this time into a tapestry of personal love and history.

Jewelry is personal. Some could argue that it could indeed be the most personal thing you place on your body. It is not simply metal and stone that we adorn ourselves. It is thousands of years of craftsmanship; it is metal from the depths of our Earth and minerals that have endured millions of years of trial by water and fire to become what they are today. The practice of wearing jewelry, originally for protection then for currency and finally for decoration, is as nearly as ancient as humanity itself. And I use the word practice purposefully, for truly wearing jewelry is a practice more so than an act.
Your Talisman
At Age of Sail, we want you to find your own Talismans. Your own symbols of protection and power – because, that is ultimately what jewelry can give you. The ancient Egyptians and Greeks knew this, the Celts knew this, and we continue seeking out those pieces that call to our souls today. Our owner has been personally collecting pieces for over 25 years and brings her discerning eye to the collection found at Age of Sail.
So have a look… your Talisman is waiting.

Payment
Please note that our pieces are priced with the following in mind: the weight (grams) of the silver/gold/brass, the quality of the gemstones and the age and the demand for that particular style. While we would love to be able to guarantee the craftsmanship of each piece, the fact that the vintage and antique components we use each has a unique and often long history before it finds its way to Age of Sea, it makes that impossible. We only purchase pieces from trusted sources and are happy to help you find a local silversmith if you should need repairs. Unless otherwise noted, all rings sold are sizable by your local jeweler. We can have a ring sized for you, but please note that there are additional costs and delivery times associated with such requests.
Layaway is available on orders over $500. A 20% down payment is required to secure your piece of jewelry and payment must be completed in 90 days. If you wish to cancel your layaway, please be aware that the 20% down payment is non-refundable. There are no exceptions to this.
Shipping
All orders are shipped via First Class or USPS Priority (upon request) and both domestic and international postage will be calculated at the time of your order. When placing an international order, you agree that Age of Sail is not responsible for any duties or additional charges that may be due upon delivery. You also agree to not hold Age of Sail responsible for any mishandling by Postal services. Upon shipment, you will receive an email notifying you of the updated status of your order as well as tracking information. For expedited shipping, please email us for a quote.
All orders placed in North Carolina are subject to a 4.75% tax charge.
Additional policies and FAQs
Sterling silver, gold fill and brass should be polished regularly with a soft silver cleaning cloth. While both solid silver and brass can be cleaned with a liquid or cream cleaner, do so with care when pieces are set with gemstones as they can be damaged by such cleaners. To cleanse your mineral, simply use fresh, cool water and dry completely. All stones should be cleansed by their new owner by rinsing them under cool water to remove any energies from others who have handled it before you. Natural stones and minerals should be handled with care and not come into contact with any cleaning chemicals.
