Announcement   Welcome to Fire Aunt Studios! Everything you see is created by me, one at a time, in my home studio in Boise, Idaho. These are not your run of the mill tie dyed scarves - my scarves are rich silks and velvets, and funky rayons, created individually and thoughtfully with wearable, seasonal, and current colors in mind, using a variety of techniques.

I invite you to look through my sold items. Most of my designs are one of a kind, however, if you see something you like, please don't hesitate to message me to see if we can come up with a reasonable facsimile.

Please read my shop policies and message me with any questions. Happy shopping, and please look for us on Facebook and Instagram (@fireauntstudios).

About

Unique hand dyed apparel and original jewelry designs

Fire Aunt Studios got its name after a vacation with my nephew in Texas (fire ant central - the biting kind) where I got the worst sunburn of my life. We joked that I was the Fire Aunt, and the name took off from there.

Although my main focus is on hand dyed apparel, my creativity seems to be bubbling up in many different ways lately. The wonderful thing about Etsy is it provides a showcase for whatever direction I'm feeling drawn on any given day.

I have been experimenting with different types of hand-dyeing for over a decade, including tie dye and low water immersion techniques, as well as combinations of different techniques. I never get tired of seeing how the colors migrate and blend depending on the fabric, the technique, and even the dye itself.

I started designing dream catcher jewelry in the mid-90's. My main client was a gift shop, and they also sold through word of mouth (this was pre-internet, mind you!) They had been on hiatus until I opened my Etsy shop in January of 2013. They've been popular, and I'm happy to be making them again.

In real life, I work at my local animal shelter. I also donate my time to a local rescue group, providing rescue transport for dogs who need rides to new homes, rescue groups, etc.

If you'd like to see more samples of my work, please check out the Fire Aunt Studios page on Facebook and follow me on Twitter, @FireAuntStudios.

I have been experimenting with different techniques of dyeing fabric for nearly 16 years. I never get tired of seeing the play of color on fabric. I love working with my customers to create their vision!

Shop Assistant, Model, Quality Control Supervisor

Merlin McLovin joined Fire.Aunt Studios in November of 2013, upon his adoption from the Idaho Humane Society. A corgi-of-all-trades, Merlin is never far from my side, ready to help out ... or just herding me around the studio, keeping me on task.
