Uniquely handbound and lovingly crafted

In Chinese mythology, the dragon chasing a fireball, a flaming pearl, represents an eternal thirst—a chase for knowledge and wisdom.

I believe the practice of doodling and writing is what that ultimately is: our human desire to find knowledge whether we realize it or not. After we pass, we leave behind our books and sketchbooks for others to find that knowledge from us, and it’s our way of connecting with generations to come.

I started designing books and folios inspired by Asian fabrics, papers, and bindings because I found that there was nothing out there to represent who I am as an Asian American artist. In researching various aspects of my cultural heritage, I realized there are many others who appreciate Asian design, craft, and art. I wanted to make something for all of us and I began hand-crafting notebooks, sketchbooks, jotters, and folios using materials, bindings, and designs inspired by Asian bookmaking histories and visual culture.

Fireball Bookbindery is my creative business that gives me the opportunity to craft unique, handmade products that value a high level of craftsmanship, encourages creativity from my supporters, and takes pride in who I am as an Asian American artist. I consider my products to be mediums that act as sort of a long-distance collaborative project between me and you. I hope you find my products to be as enjoyable to create in as they are beautiful!
