The shape and feel of this yunomi is simply fantastic! A real pleasure to hold. The nuka glaze is interesting, with shades of grey and green, gently crazing. The cup was packed very carefully, and posted out quickly. A fantastic experience and a very adorable yunomi!

A very unique yunomi. Well proportioned in terms of size and wall thickness for tea drinking. Fantastic and varied colouring in the glaze. The varied lip and slant of the wall achieved through pinching is also evident when using the cup - almost like the spirit of the cup! The yunomi was packaged carefully, a decorative box within the shipping box, and was shipped quickly too. Highly recommended.

This is a great little cup and I've enjoyed using it for my loose teas and herbal teas. Shipping was prompt and the item arrive a day or two after ordering. Looking forward to more offerings! Thanks

About

FireCrown Pottery

FireCrown came from a dream I had years ago that moved me so much that I got up in a haze and stupor to actually make a crown of fire out of folded colored construction paper and tape. The symbolism in the name and the logo represent the goal of harmonizing all aspects of my life. The creative, the spiritual, the physical, the explorer, the problem solver, the seeker of the new and novel through the simple act of creating out of clay. The same as we did thousands of years ago. Though the vessel remains a vessel, the expression and form that each is given is limitless for we are the universe experiencing itself. FireCrown Pottery exists for the sake of that desire to express and to create, using the most simple of elements - earth & fire and also using the most complex of all - imagination.

Frequently asked questions

Custom and personalized orders

We do not do commissions, custom or personalized orders at this time but we are working towards being able to accommodate a larger audience and that may mean custom or personalized orders.

Sizing details

We do our best to list items with dimensions and volume information. If there is anything else needed, such as a photograph with something for scale, just ask, and it shall be done :-)

Care instructions

What we produce and sell is functional so we hope that you will use it.

Then afterwards, when you are finished, you can hand wash cups, plates and bowls with mild detergent and towel dry. This serves two purposes:

1) To get to know what you own. Our ware is not mass produced and each piece is unique and meant to be used and learned over time.

2) To make sure that any harsh detergents used in the dishwasher that might create buildup, dull the glaze, or leave a taste of cleaner. (The work we use in our own home sometimes goes through the dishwasher, to check how it handles the rougher treatment over time. So far its been fine, but we still do not recommend it.)

Do not obviously abuse the ware and it should last a lifetime.

Gift wrapping and packaging

Contact us if this is a gift order and we may be able to accommodate any special instructions or ideas.

Are the glazes you use food safe?

Yes! All the glazes we use have been thoroughly tested and nothing leaves the studio that we feel would compromise our integrity or prove to be dangerous, even over time. Everything we sell we also use daily in our own home. We want to produce functional, safe and beautiful pottery.

(Please be careful with other pottery you may come across while out and about. Especially when melted glass is involved. It looks absolutely beautiful but the cracks can harbor bacteria and it is not the same as a high fired & completely vitrified pot that may have some mild crazing in the glaze. Ask the maker first if there is any doubt.)

I adore my _____, do you offer replacements if my _____ breaks?

We want you to be happy with your purchase, these are not mass quantity wares where a replacement is 10 cents away. They are hand crafted with care and each piece contains part of our soul and our time on this earth. In addition, some pieces are complete one offs where they were never intended to be made again. With that being said, please reach out to us and we can see if we can work something out.

My _____ broke, can you replace it?

Everything we send out is triple checked before being carefully packaged. If something arrives broken, please immediately contact us!

If something breaks during normal everyday use due to a defect, please contact us and let's see if we can work something out.
