1 out of 5 starsReally hated the soap, it was like a bar of bees wax. No sent, no bubbles, it was garland melted away in the shower super fast. This was supposed to be a cocoa soap? No cocoa whatsoever in there :-( not worth the price sorry

Hi Cynthia, Really sorry you didn't like our soaps ! The no sent is normal, The 2 soaps you bought are without perfume soap as described in the title and the description, so the sent is really really minimal. The smell will only be coming from the product themselfs and cocoa butter or mapple sirup doesn't smell strong in the first place. Keep in mind too that a soap must not be left in the shower or any wet environnement otherwise it will melt quickly. Feel free to reach to us if we can do anything to satisfy you !

A bit of history about soaps & candles
What is soap?
Soap is the product of a chemical reaction between a fat and a base. This is called saponification.
It is a total reaction that will continue until one of the elements is exhausted. In the case of my soaps will always be the exhaustion of the caustic base since my soaps are calculated to be over-greased by at least 7%, unlike the industrial soaps which replace the whole by correctors of PH.
Differences between artisanal and industrial methods
Soaps made in cold saponification are naturally rich in glycerine, the result of the saponification reaction. It brings softness and moisturizing properties to the soap. This recipe is ancestral and has many thousands of years. This is a process that has been proven for more than 2,000 years and that we unfortunately tend to replace with chemicals nowadays. To save time, industries nowadays boil products for a few days. This has the effect, among other things, to denature the soap by making him lose his glycerin. The use of the artisanal method allows the reaction to occur naturally. It may take several months to obtain the final product ready for use for certain oil compositions.
The manufacture of my soaps is entirely handmade in a traditional way. No acceleration, artificial treatment or industrial action is necessary. In addition to triglycerides of fatty acids, vegetable oils and butters contain an unsaponifiable fraction, that is, compounds that will not react to processing and that naturally enrich the soaps for their benefits.
Benefit of the ingredients
These are, for example, natural phyto-sterols, tocopherols (vitamin E), carotenoids (vitamin A), terpenes (natural essence), scalene (natural resin), fatty alcohols and many other learned names to describe any a variety of products naturally present in oils that serve as basic ingredients in the manufacture of my soaps and which are replaced by synthetic products in the industry to inflate their banking capital to the detriment of our health capital.
These substances have very interesting actions for the skin: antioxidant, nourishing, emollient, softener, protector and many others. All these beneficial effects come from natural raw materials.
The difference between industrial and natural candles
If you have ever used scented industrial candles, you have probably already experienced the "headache of synthetic"! Industrial candles are made with paraffin (derived from petroleum) and scented with synthetic fragrance. When they burn, they emit all their products in the air and are then assimilated by the body via the lungs by breathing them which causes in some people headaches.
You may also have noticed the layer of black tallow on the wick, the black smoke and the "ravens" of tallow that floats in the air from time to time, all of them resulting from the use of synthetic products and derivatives of oil, not to mention the carbon monoxide resulting from poor combustion and cotton tows bleached or impregnated with products retarding combustion. The importance of the wicks With the wooden wick, the flame burns gently sometimes emitting a slight wood fire crackle and diffuse the perfume much better.
It is a natural product and leaves no combustion residue suspended in the air, no tallow, no black marks, no crows and no carbon monoxide, nothing but a sweet smell of wax or natural fragrance.
I tried several techniques for the wick: they can be made with a single wick, a half wick, a double-wick and a double-half-wick. The simple wick will burn slowly but melt all the wax around the circumference. The double-wick will burn quickly and melt all the wax around the circumference. The half wick will burn slowly and melt the wax on a circumference equivalent to half of the candle. The double half-wick will burn rapidly and melt the wax on a circumference equivalent to two thirds of the candle. Each type of wick will have an impact on the burning time of the wax, but also on the diffusion of the perfume, if you want a candle that scents a lot for two or three hours, the double-wicks is made for you.
On the other hand, if you want a light fragrance that will spread over eight to ten hours, the simple half wick is ideal.
