firstfloorflat's Shop Announcement

Welcome to 1st Floor Flat!

Based in the UK, I'm a mixed-media artist who also loves to make blank journals and books, and dabbles in digital design and blog makeovers.

I'm an avid collector of vintage paper and ephemera, which I make into unique art pieces. I also offer packs of vintage papers etc for sale. I love to make journals, sketchbooks and scrapbooks - and work with beautiful papers: Bockingford, Fabriano etc - papers that will take any amount of paint and collage. My special Keepsake and Wedding albums use smooth, flexible papers that are perfect for mounting your photographs and ephemera. I also like to make vintage journals, using original book covers and a mix of vintage and new paper. Each of these is totally unique: I make eveything by hand, right from cutting the boards, to sewing and decorating.

I love messing around in Photoshop, but when it comes to blog makeovers I'm self taught. I learnt everything the hard way - if at first something doesn't work, I keep trying until it does -and now write little bits of coding myself! I adore to design blog backgrounds, headers, buttons, blinkies, email links... fun toys to customise blogs and make them unique and beautiful. Most of my designs tend to have a vintage, Shabby Chic feel. I always try to aim for elegant and unusual.

I teach mixed media, journalling and bookbinding, so you know the tutorials I offer here have been tried and tested (many, many times). These are in .pdf format so that you can print out or view onscreen in the comfort of your own home. With fully illustrated notes & my own photographs, hand-drawn diagrams and step-by-step instructions, I also include a little gallery of finished books to help inspire you. Whether a beginner or more advanced, you will easily be able to make albums, journals scrapbooks... and if you get stuck, just convo me.

I also undertake special commissions.

Thanks so much for looking!

Thanks so much for visiting me!

I hope you'll find something to surprise and delight you, whether it's a blank book or journal, a scrapbook or a simple bookmark. Everything I do is made with care and as perfect as is humanly possible. If I didn't love it, I wouldn't make it! So you won't ever see anything in this shop that doesn't have my whole-hearted approval - even if it's a pack of vintage ephemera, if I don't like it, or am not sure about it, then you won't see it here.

Please feel free to use my tutorials to make items for sale, including Etsy, online shops, craft fairs, for charity, etc, and do go ahead and use my digital images for blog or web design, scrapbooking and items for sale (in a final flattened digital format). I'd adore to see what you've made.

But - can I please ask you not to sell my actual tutorials or digital images as is, or share these? I've worked really hard on them, so please let others buy their own by referring them to my shop!

I accept PayPal - so you can pay by e-check or the credit or debit card of your choice, no matter what country or currency. Which is wonderful, as it automatically sorts out all the money stuff, and saves a lot of headache.

I ship from the UK, and within the UK will always post via 1st Class Royal Mail (or Collect + if the item is heavy). I always obtain a Certificate of Postage, which insures up to £50 - but if if the item is more expensive, I'll offer the option of Special Delivery (and quote first).

For international orders, I always choose the most economical method possible (for journals, albums, vintage items this is usually Airmail Small Packet or Airmail Printed Paper, whichever is applicable at the time). For heavier items, I am happy to quote first and thus let you choose which method you'd prefer. For more expensive items I am happy to send To Be Signed For, which is an insured parcel requiring a signature. This would be an extra charge, and again, I'd be happy to quote first.

Refunds and Exchanges

If for any reason you are not happy with your purchase, please convo me as soon as possible and I'll do my best to set things right.

Re digital products, these should download from Etsy immediately upon payment. If for some reason they don't download, convo me and I'll send again manually.

If using Royal Mail, I always obtain a Certificate of Postage, which insures up to £50 - but if if the item is more expensive, I'll offer the option of Special Delivery (and quote first). If using Collect+, the item is insured up to £50 and again, if the item is more expensive, I can offer higher insurance (I'll quote first).

Items sent abroad are trackable within the UK, and I can send To Be Signed for, which is an insured parcel requiring a signature.

Additional Policies and FAQs

I am happy to accept custom orders - please convo me with your request, and I'll quote a price. If it's acceptable to you, I will then formulate a personalised Custom Order and place it on Etsy.

Just click to pay, exactly as you would any other purchase,
