Announcement   *** Wishing everybody a Merry Christmas and all the best for 2019!!***

My one-of-a-kind handmade quilts for babies and children are cuddly, colourful and fun - many feature a theme such as ballerinas, animals or space. Of course, with children in mind, they are made to be used and made to last!

My quilts for teens and up (no upper age limit!) are mostly larger quilts and of course just as cosy and durable as the kids' quilts.

Whether you are buying for your own family and home or seeking that special one-of-a-kind gift, you can be sure of a quality item that will last. Please note in most cases there is only one of each quilt available, so don't delay - when it's gone, it's gone!

About

Handmade Quilts

I learned to sew at school - although memories of a particular skirt still make me cringe! Like many people, I have had a go at various textile crafts - embroidery, crochet, lacemaking, silk painting, etc - as hobbies whilst working 'proper' jobs. I began quilting in 2003 and loved it straight away because the end result was usable! In 2007 I left the corporate world and set up my own professional machine quilting business, Fir Tree Quilting. I branched out in to quilt designing in 2016.

I take pride in close attention to detail and careful workmanship to produce high quality one-of-a-kind quilts. Certainly not mass-market, nor available on the high street.

Quilts are truly fabulous things – they get softer and cuddlier the more they are used!
Whether you are looking for a unique gift for a baby shower or a new baby, a baptism, christening or naming ceremony, a birthday, graduation, wedding, housewarming or Christmas - or simply 'just because'! - you can be sure a Fir Tree Quilts' quilt will be a gift with a difference that lasts.

Bye for now,
Barbara x

Frequently asked questions
Quilt Sizes

The quilts are grouped into Baby, Child and Teens+ categories primarily by length: Baby quilts are up to 50 inches (127cm) long, Child quilts up to 60 inches (152cm) and Teen+ quilts over 60 inches. The Teens+ category may occasionally also include smaller quilts more suited to adults than children.

Many quilts are a similar design but they do vary in size, so please check the details in each listing carefully.

Care Instructions and Safety Information

Care Instructions.
All of my quilts are washable. A warm hand- or machine-wash with mild detergent or baby shampoo is suitable. Do not wring. Dry the quilt in a tumble dryer on a low heat setting, or line dry it using several pegs, or lay it flat on a towel. Dry cleaning is not recommended.

Safety Information.
There are no buttons or embellishments on any of my quilts and they are made and stored in a smoke-free environment. Please check your country’s current health and safety guidance on using quilts in young babies’ cribs and cots.

Notify me within 14 days of receipt and return the item in its original condition and packaging within 21 days of receipt. Once received, the item cost will be refunded, less any loss in value from unreasonable use or damage (including smoke odour) or occurring during transit back to me.

If an item is faulty, please notify me and then return it. Once received, a refund will be issued as above. As my quilts are unique items, a replacement item will not be available.
