Pam is an amazing artist and a joy to work with. I highly recommend doing a custom work of art with her. She will get your input along the way and you get to be involved in the creation of one of her masterpieces. I plan to be a repeat customer soon.

About

I've always been surrounded by art.

I can’t remember a time when creating something from upcycled materials wasn’t a part of my everyday life. From my mom picking up spindles from dilapidated homes and turning them into candlestick holders (remember decoupage??) to my grandmother Mama, saving old wallpaper books for me when I visited during the summer and letting me create to my heart’s content… I thought I was in heaven. I graduated from college with a double major in Art Marketing and Commercial Design. One of my favorite classes was weaving/batik. I loved how you could get lost in the process of creating both. I am now a graphic artist/web designer by day and a weaver by night. A perfect mix I think!

In fishwarp, you’ll find unique, fun, colorful weavings and macrames that will add a cool element to any room in your house! Each of my weavings is entirely unique, as I make each one by hand with found, upcycled products. I try to use locally sourced materials as often as possible, whether that means using bits of wood I find while walking my dog Ollie around the neighborhood, or buying wool from local vendors. All the fabrics I use are upcycled from various closet cast-offs, and I buy most of my beads from the nearby artistic haven of Asheville, NC. My process involves a lot of layering of textures and colors to create the perfect visual pop.

I recently started macrame again and have now become obsessed with the process! My macrames are just as unique as my upcycled weavings and usually involve weaving in a pop of color with reclaimed sari silk ribbon, handspun yarns, upcycled fabrics and colorful wool roving. I love how the color complements the natural white cotton rope. I think it's so pretty!

I am inspired by everything I see, from the flattened pinecone on the road to the handmade paper that a present has come wrapped in. I save it all knowing that I’ll find a special place for it in one of my weavings or creations I come up with.

I started weaving again to make presents for family and friends. They loved the weavings and I loved making them. Macrame soon followed and I hope that both types of woven wall hangings will bring as much enjoyment to your home as they did to me when I was creating them!
