Who doesn't love a finely crafted, handmade item?

When I was 10 years old I made a small bag for my marbles out of black floral corduroy. I thought it was so awesome I then made one for my brother and one for my sister. That was in 1973 and I've been sewing and crafting ever since.

The leather cuffs...
I've always loved the look and feel (and smell!) of real leather. About ten years ago I started dabbling in leatherwork, got distracted by ceramics for a few years, then back to leather.

I can't get enough of this leather! As leather cuffs have become popular, it made sense to focus my efforts there. The possibilities are endless and they're fun to wear.

The setup ...
Our basement is currently under construction being made into a studio for my crafting, so right now I'm nicely set up in the sunroom and have hi-jacked the ping pong table. What an awesome crafting table, right?!

Off one end of the table I have my leatherworking station, and on the other end my sewing stations. In between is a great place to cut stuff out.

Speaking of sewing brings me to the travel bags...

Several years ago, when it became common to have your luggage inspected at the airport, I decided I wanted a small bag to pack my underwear in. Something that was lightweight, breathable, easy to launder, not see-through, didn't take up much room, and would provide me with that extra bit of privacy when I travel. I made a small bag out of t-shirt material and have been using it ever since.

Last year I started making these bags for others, and branded them The StowAway bag. It was with these bags that I first opened my Etsy shop.

And besides just using a StowAway bag for underwear I have discovered they're equally handy to pack cosmetics, toiletries, medications, or electronics chargers.

All of my bags are made of cotton or cotton blend fabrics and are intended to be machine washed and tumbled dry. The bags are all pre-washed by me so they're ready to travel when you are!

Each bag is handmade by me, as is each leather cuff.

Thank you for taking an interest in my story. As for me, I'm off to make something! ;)
