What makes these items unique?

Often times I am asked what makes my pieces unique from those available elsewhere....

The answer is in the making. The products I've put out into the world are often hand made, meticulously created in my little home office with care and love. The skills need to create these things come from years of experience, learning different mediums, fine tuning my artistic eye and skill, and many many many pieces that simply did not make the cut and were just part of the learning process. Many of the materials are found items, or reclaimed components that I've found sitting there looking at me just waiting to be revived into something beautiful. Many of these materials cannot simply be re-ordered somewhere, and could not have been made without the years of learning that happened before.

There are items sold that have production partners and are manufactured outside of my home. Some of these include pins and tarot decks. The tarot decks, in particular, are a culmination of years of work and making art. The hours put into this project have been immeasurable, from the initial drawings, collaging, painting, to formatting and packaging each piece. As a deck containing 78 illustrations, I am able to share 78 of these little pieces of art with people out there in the world in an accessible way. I'm delighted by the number of reviews from people loving this project and responding positively to the artwork. It is a project that has enveloped my life for so long and really has my heart and soul into it.

On the other side of things, I've been saddened by some reactions to the cost of these items, stating that they are able to find other decks for much cheaper elsewhere. I do know this to be true. Something to consider when making a purchase like this is the artist behind the scenes. These decks are small independent runs that I was able to fund initially with the help of a Kickstarter campaign and a lot out of pocket, but there were not 10's of 1000's or even more ordered. That is often a factor that can bring cost down a bit for the consumer. The deluxe packaging began with unfinished wooden boxes I was able to source. With a little help from my life partner I stained each one by hand, branded, stamped, numbered, signed, etc all at my home. The cost reflects the love and the labor behind each of these decks. Hopefully, with success from this project, I'll be able to do another and move my way up to making larger runs, and possibly hire out some of the labor, which could then bring the individual cost down for the buyer.

Supporting small businesses and individual artists is something I believe in and practice as much as possible in my own life. It is the consumer, the client, the person who shares something they love with their friends or on social media, that make it possible for artists to keep making outside the constraints that come along with huge corporations. And so the goods are unique, as they are truly the vision of this artist without someone overseeing and giving the ultimate approval or denial. Purchasing from an individual artist is purchasing a part of their knowledge, time and vision, and a part of themselves.

Thank you so much and from the bottom of my heart for your continued support and patronage!
