Really lovely rabbits, perfect for my 1/48 scale dolls house
My journey with polymer clay art
I've always loved art whether it's drawing or painting pictures, decorating the house, making something pretty, gardening...etc from a very young age I have always loved being creative. I went to art school in my late teens but dropped out of the course near the end as I didn't earn my place at the university I wanted to study at. I chose to study other academic subjects instead believing they may do me more good, workwise, in the long run.
After many years I decided to start a family and it was while I was pregnant with my little girl that the artist within me decided to burst out from her hiding place. I painted pictures, decorated old toys and discovered polymer clay along the way. Polymer clay has since been the main part of my art for the last few years. I love all the different colours, the blending and the possibilities of all the amazing things you can create from colourful clay. I'm completely self taught with clay and learned from many books and have been inspired by so many wonderful clay artists out there who still continue to inspire me to this day.
My shop here on Etsy features many polymer clay items I have made. I make pendants, earrings, necklaces and I make miniature dollhouse items too. I'm planning on making some larger pieces soon but as so much of my time is taken up with my little girl I have to hold back on the art a little. My ambitions with my art are to start doing craft fairs, holding exhibitions, make bigger and better pieces of art, improve my blog and shop...etc I just wish there were more hours in the day so I could fit it all in. Very soon I hope to have some photos on here of my art space and where my sculpting is done. I don't have a huge fancy studio, just a bedroom that has been converted into an office for my desk with a decent lamp on. I sit near to the window which overlooks the back garden and the trees beyond. The garden is south facing and is bathed in lovely golden light in the Autumn eveings which I find very inspirational. Problem is I can spend too much time gazing out of the window and not enough time working!
