From Dressmaker to Home Decor
I have always loved fabric. As all fabric addicts do, I began to accumulate gorgeous materials and felt the need to start creating. The designs abounded...and began to fill up my spare rooms! With a sense of purpose and full of excitement, I officially launched Floradora, Inc. in late 2006, working first with interior designers and then making my start with e-commerce on Etsy in October 2007.
Learning much along the way, in 2008 I began to sell locally in artist shows and events, building a local customer clientele as well as a network of fellow artists. Being committed to creating and buying handmade as well as the handmade movement in Charlotte, I love that Floradora has allowed me to build not only lasting friendships, but also to support other artists in their small businesses.
Introduced to sewing and fabric from both grandmothers, what started as a hobby developed into a career path in Costume Design and later into Floradora- a love of fabric and detail make this not a job, but a pleasure. Still an active freelance costume designer, I love to incorporate details from fashion and translate them into my designs for the home, hence my tag line "Dressmaker Details in Home Decor." I believe that the little details in design truly make a difference for an inspired space. Your home should rise to meet you, and I am here to help make it the haven you desire.
A true Southern girl, I am a Charlotte native and reside in the suburbs with my 2 dog “kids” Eleanor Francine the bichon frise and Oliver Maxwell the Italian greyhound.
If I am not sitting on my patio under the jasmine-covered pergola watching the dogs play, you can find me busy in my little studio, doing what I love.
