Arrived in great condition and is a wonderful way to get a feel (quite literally!) for all of the different plant fibers that are available, including some that I didn't even know could be turned into yarn! I'm so excited to try some of the fibers from this shop!

Lovely fibre which spins up a treat. It arrived swiftly, and beautifully packaged in a sturdy little box. I'll definitely be a returning customer :-)

More beautiful fibre, soft and well prepared. Bought at the same time as the rose fibre I purchased, and so arrived with it as postage was combined - prompt and well packaged. One very happy customer!

About

The idea for Flora Fibres started after a slightly disappointing visit to a yarn festival, where nearly everything available was wool based. As a vegan I was keen to see some some more hand spun, hand dyed yarns on the market that make use of all the incredible plant fibres available today. Not only for people like myself, but also those with wool allergies, and any other yarn crafter who would like to branch out and try something new. So I decided to go ahead and create the yarns myself! I taught myself how to spin, and all about natural dyeing, and thus Flora Fibres Yarn was born!

Frequently asked questions

Care instructions

Each item comes with their own care instructions included, so you will always know how to take care of your purchase.

Sizing details

As each skein is hand spun, the length will always vary. In each listing, and on the tag of each skein sold, you will find all the relevant information, including: approximate length, WPI, skein weight.

Gift wrapping and packaging

Each and every order will come beautifully gift wrapped in tissue paper at no extra cost, because every order is a special gift. Even if that gift is from you to you!

Are the colours in the listing photos true?

I make every effort to ensure the photos in the listings are as true to the colours of the yarn as possible, however the colours you see on your screen will depend on how your monitor/phone screen is set up. Colours can vary significantly across different screens, so please be aware of this when ordering.

Will the colours fade when washed?

Over time the colours from natural dyes may soften slightly, and "mellow". This is totally normal and part of the charm of botanical colours. Storing your yarn out of direct sunlight will also help protect the colour.

The thing to be aware of when washing your yarn is the pH of your water, as *some* (not all) natural dyes are very susceptible, and even though the yarn is colurfast when you receive it, it may change colour when washed if your water pH is significantly different to mine. If in doubt try using pH neutral water to keep your colours true.

How is shipping calculated?

All packages over £20 in value are sent tracked, or 'signed for', and bulky yarns have to be sent as small parcels due to their size

Multiple items will be sent together, and postage is only charged once per order.
