About

Making natural glycerin melt and pour soap

I love making soap. Making soap is rich visually and olfactorally (is that a word?).
Making soap involves skills akin to cooking, painting, and ceramic sculpture. The cooking part involves having a good basic soap recipe, and knowing how much to add in the way of scent, additives like rich nourishing oils and herbs, and colorants - and once you have the basics down you can start to experiment. You can be completely natural and use only plant-derived essential oils and botanicals, or you can experiment with cosmetic grade fragrances and colorants. Or you can mix it up.

I have been making soap since around 2000, and love the process and using the finished product!

The soaps and body balms you see here are all made by hand by me in small batches. I have been making soap for more than seven years, but selling it on Etsy is new to me.

Custom requests are welcome. Wholesale requests are also welcome.

Glycerine soaps are more fragile than your store-bought bars of Ivory, due to the inclusion of glycerine, which attracts moisture from the air. This is the very thing that makes them so gentle and moisturizing for your skin. Glycerine soaps can melt under high heat, fade under direct sunlight, and attract moisture when wet. For long-lasting soap bars, don't let them sit in a puddle of water between uses!

Glycerine soaps can also lose their scent after a while, especially those made with essential oils, so keep them wrapped up until ready to use.

If you have sensitive skin, please contact me - I have sensitive skin too and have recommendations for specific soap varieties that are likely to be the most gentle for you. However, with all soap and body care products, allergies are possible, even to the gentlest and most natural ingredients. If a rash develops, please stop using and share it with someone else!
