Additional policies and FAQs
Due to new VAT and tariff code requirements instated by the European Union, I will not be able to make sales to EU buyers totaling any less than $30 USD, as the cost and efforts to ship items will outweigh profits. Additionally, due to the fastidious nature of locating the aforementioned tariff codes for each and every item purchased, shipping times will extend up to 5 business days beyond the estimated shipping time indicated on each product.
Unfortunately, I cannot make any exceptions to this rule and if a sale is made totaling less than $30 USD, I will cancel the order within 1-2 business days and fully refund the purchasing price.
If you have any individual questions or concerns about shipping to the EU, please contact me before making your purchase.
Frequently asked questions
How long does shipping take?
I tend to visit the post office twice a week (once towards the middle of the week and once towards the end), so any goods that are not custom orders are shipped out within 1-3 days and arrive within 2-3 days after being dropped off at the post with USPS first class. However, if you need to receive something urgently, please contact me before choosing a shipping option and we can likely work something out to make sure you receive your parcel promptly.
How long is the turnaround for custom pieces?
This differs from piece to piece, but the following are general estimates for the most common commissions I take:
portraits of one or two subjects (in ink/line drawings)~2-3 weeks
portraits of 3+ subjects (in ink/line drawings)~3-4 weeks
portraits of one or two subjects (in full color)~3-4 weeks
commissioned illustrations~3-5 weeks
The minimum turnaround time for any commissioned job is 2 weeks, but this is rarely a guarantee with my schedule. If you need a piece in time for a special occasion, please plan ahead and contact me early.
What about pricing for custom pieces?
There are a lot of factors that play into the cost of a piece including materials, time, level of detail, and type of use. Below are some rough estimates for your convenience. Of course, each of these can vary greatly depending on the factors mentioned above and more, please contact me for an accurate estimate and to share your vision.
Although Etsy Wholesale is now retired, I still accept wholesale orders. If you're interested in buying in bulk or if you'd like to see my linesheet, please contact me via Etsy or the e-mail above.
Why don't you offer free standard shipping?
The truth is that nothing is actually free. When you offer free shipping, you actually tack the cost of shipping onto your regular product price. For example, if an 8x10 print from my shop costs $11 now, I would have to mark it at around $14/$15 to factor in the shipping costs. I like to be as transparent about my business practices as possible with my customers and doing this would not feel right to me. Additionally if I were to offer free shipping on orders of, let's say, $35 or more, it'd be incredibly unfair to those making a purchase under $35, as they'd be paying for shipping twice––once in the hidden fee tacked onto the price of the product(s) and twice when they actually pay for shipping.
Do you run sales/promos? Do you offer free shipping then?
I do run sales and promotions from time to time––about five to six smaller sales events throughout the year and two big ones: Black Friday weekend and my almost month-long Holiday Sale in December. Sometimes during these sales, I offer free domestic shipping that IS actually free for you. The information about any of these sales/promos is always announced via my Instagram and Twitter (@lauralucy_f) and found noted in my shop announcements. If you don't see it there, it means there is no sale. Please do not try using any coupons found on couponing websites; I will not accept those.
