I'm compelled to create. My artwork reveals itself. .. choice isn't really part of the equation.

Writing an “About Me” description should not be this daunting, but words are too static when you’re constantly creating, crafting, changing.... working on my masterpiece 😉 . Truth be told, by the time you’re reading this, I’m probably not the same “me” who wrote these words.

I suppose I’m best described as a creator, an explorer, and an artist. As an artist, I’m inspired by contrast and anything unusual or odd that doesn’t quite “belong”.

My other source of inspiration is simply wandering about in nature, especially with no time restrictions or destination. Stopping to wonder or marvel at the world around me is a routine practice that keeps me present, grounded, and curious.

Exploring, wandering, creating—I seem to just find myself doing these things without any intention or predetermination. I guess you could say, then, that my artwork is more or less a byproduct of the inner work my soul is called to do.

When I step foot in the studio, my objective is simple: I intend to let go. I practice letting go of the thoughts, cares and complexities of daily life. I practice becoming aware of whatever wheels I’m spinning, whatever trip I’m on that’s disturbing my peace of mind. I’ll throw on some Ram Dass or some Alan Watts, I’ll get curious about the perceptions I’m holding and try different realities on for size. The “real world” creeps in from time to time, but my practice – my Art – helps me return to my creative center. And it is from this place, from this daily cycle, that my artwork makes itself.

Ultimately, FlowwolF Studio is a passion project that quietly emerged after nearly 6 months of social isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic. As a physical entity, FlowwolF Studio is, well, a garage and basement in our Philadelphia townhome. Someday, FlowWolf Studio’s physicality will spill out beyond these 4 walls and take root in a new location— like, a beat up barn surrounded by green grass or a warehouse being swallowed by nature herself. Oddities + nature = inspiration haven.

Beyond the physical, though, FlowWolf emerged from the “flow state” I find myself in when creating my fluid artwork. And since my last name is Wolf, it is also happens to be a badass palindrome. Thanks for the sign, Universe! ;-)

Credit for FlowWolf Studio as a brand/shop is due entirely to my fiancé Tyler. From building frames and custom canvases, to taking photos and listing items, to supporting and encouraging me every step of the way. He is a computer wiz, creative genius and wood-working pro (who also happens to be a total sweetheart). We’ve been marrying our passions ahead of marrying each other, as you might expect from a creative couple in quarantine. We’ll be listing a few of our resin + wood collaborative projects in the very near future!
