Announcement   Thanks for looking at my shop. I make all-natural, top-quality body products and hand dyed silks and yarns using natural dyes and low-impact mordants and methods. All my products are as local and environmentally-friendly as possible. I use oils in my body products that are unrefined whenever possible.

If you're local, please look for my body butters at the Buffalo Mountain Coop in Hardwick, VT.

I do not use any palm oil, as its production is causing devastation to the environment, wildlife, and people in countries like Indonesia (see http://ran.org/category/issue/palm-oil for more information). I use some animal fats in my soaps that I buy and render from local farms that raise healthy animals. I don't use synthetic, petroleum-based fragrances or additives in my products, nor do I use any water. (Except soap, which can't be made without it!) I test all my products out on my family and myself. If they aren't good enough for us, they aren't good enough for you!

***Note to my soap buyers - I am not planning on listing my soaps or shampoo bars on Etsy for the near future, as I'm focusing on selling my body butters here and locally. I am still making soap for my family and for gifts, however, so let me know if you want soap, and I'll tell you what I have and make you a Reserve Listing if you're interested.

If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions about my products and/or my eco-friendly practices, please ask. I'm constantly working on lowering my carbon footprint and making body and earth-friendly products. I welcome your feedback and suggestions.

The plants I use to dye my yarns and silks are mostly local and organic. Most of my natural dyes are organic matter that would otherwise be discarded - carrot tops, extra rhubarb roots, wild goldenrod, etc. I love taking these and making them into beautiful dyes for yarn and silk. Create beautiful knitted or crocheted works with these eco-friendly, unique yarns, and decorate yourself and your children's playroom with beautiful silks, dyed with care in my home.

This smells so good... I'm uncomfortable with how badly I want to eat my moisturizer.

Love this beautifully dyed silk. It's currently on our Waldorf table and looks gorgeous.

This stuff is amazing! It smells great and it hydrates my skin without being greasy. A great value for the price!

Thanks for looking at my shop. I make soaps, shampoo bars, and lotions from all-natural, top quality ingredients. I use organic, fair-trade, raw, and unrefined ingredients whenever possible. I use lard in my soaps, rendered from local, pastured, organic pigs. This is an environmentally-friendly way to avoid the ecological and human-rights problems associated with palm oil. I also use vegetable oils to ensure my soaps are as moisturizing and gentle as possible. (Some of my soaps that I am posting right now have palm oil in them. I have some palm oil that I purchased before I knew about the problems with it that I will be using up, as I feel it is better to use it since I've already purchased it than to throw it away. After I use it up, I will no longer make any products with palm oil and will be returning to soaping with a combination of local, organic animal fats and vegetable oils. )

My silks and yarns are hand dyed using primarily local plants or parts of vegetables that would otherwise be waste. This is a low-impact way to create natural, beautiful, unique colors for play silks, scarves, and knitting or crocheting yarns. I use alum, cream of tartar, and copper scrubbies for low-impact mordants.
