Hi! My name is Gavin. I make origami inspired jewelry and accessories from beautiful silk-screened Japanese papers, hand-folded PMC silver and 3D printed precious metals.
I fell in love with paper folding while working as an English teacher in Seoul, South Korea. After traveling several times to Japan on my school breaks and acquiring a large stash of chiyogami papers, I decided I needed to make something beautiful and practical with them.
In 2012, after returning to Canada, I started folding simple origami paper crane earrings and a few limited designs. Over time they became more complicated and smaller and the materials I worked with expanded to silver.
I truly love what I do and I aim to show that in the quality and detail of my work.
I am inspired and motivated by the story and symbol of the paper crane and the different connections it has to my customers.
