About

From Paint to Fiber

About Folk‘n’Fiber (former known as Amherst Folk Art & Rug Hooking)
Folk'n'Fiber offered hand painted folk art and rug hooking patterns since 1999. The business originally showcased my painting and antiques, and as my rug hooking patterns and kits grew in popularity, the business incorporated those as well. After moving the business from Amherst to Lorain, OH., the name change seemed appropriate. Folk ‘n’ Fiber is a home-based fiber art business. I also conduct classes in rug hooking and punch needle embroidery in my home studio.

About Sally, owner of Folk ‘n’ Fiber
I have a medical background, working as a med tech and medical technical writer/editor for half of my career, I turned my art-filled hobbies into this little business on the web in 1995. My first serious affair with art began in 1984 when I started painting in acrylics. Tomorrow’s Heirlooms was my small, hometown shop where I taught painting and Early American stenciling and then along came my last two children and that’s when I sold the shop; too little time to be with the kids. In 1999, I discovered rug hooking and my life took a big turn. I have been designing and creating hooked rugs ever since. The natural incorporation of my rug hooking designs and my love of antiques became the focus of my business. With my life-long love of antiques and the stories they tell, I remain focused on keeping the past alive for others to enjoy.

My rug hooking and needle punch embroidery designs reflect my preference for primitive and Early American colors & design; I hope you'll find them pleasing, as well.
