About Folkeshi

Sales 257
On Etsy since 2016

This scene takes place in a Paris-Tokyo flight. With my husband and our little boy, we are coming back from two weeks in France, where we celebrated Christmas. My husband teases me: is there still someone from our circle who has not any kokeshi yet? True, kokeshi are an easy gift; I bought a lot for friends and family these last 4 years in Japan...
Little frown on my part. I am sure many people would like to display these dolls! Wait. That's an idea, no?
So this is how I started my project. The first weeks of 2016 were dedicated to my concept development, while I kept an eye on my toddler playing with his cars on the futon.

With Folkeshi, I share my passion for kokeshi, these traditional japanese wooden dolls, without arms or legs, but with the cutest faces ever! Made by craftsmen from Northern Japan since more than a century, they are handmade and handpainted.
Their unique designs and most expressive faces, beautifully faded by the years, perfectly capture the simplicity and "kawaii" (cuteness) so typical of Japan.

Accepted payment methods

Returns and exchanges
Folkeshi's kokeshi are all vintage items. Scars, decolorations, and such telltales are part of the item's past.
I describe them precisely and the pictures show the main flaws ; but mistakes can occur. If you receive a kokeshi that differs a lot from its description, I will reimburse you and the return costs will be mine.

If you receive your kokeshi broken or damaged because of problems during shipment, please contact me as soon as possible. We will find together an arrangement.
Payment is done through Paypal, a safe and easy system. All you need is a credit card.
I send everything at your Etsy account address. Please check and make sure it is the right one !

Buying several items will allow you a combined shipping. Etsy combines automatically the fees when you place items in your cart.

By default I send through Economy AirMail. It takes about 2 weeks to get your parcel in United States or Europe, 10 days for Asia.

+ suivi
This option allows you to add a tracking service to the standard delivery. The delivery takes the same amount of time but you will be able to track your parcel.
If you want a trackable, quick shipping with insurance, you can choose EMS in the shipping options, with a cost. The shipment will take up to 4-5 days to Europe or United States.
EMS quote estimations are difficult to do. If there is a gap of several euros between my guess and the actual quote, I will reimburse you the difference.
For an EMS shipping, please give me a phone number. The Japan Post needs it.

I adhere to accurate customs declaration. Customs charges may apply, depending on your total shopping amount and your country's legislation.
So far, none of the parcels sent with the normal shipping got taxed.
Additional policies and FAQs
To take care of your kokeshi, protect it from direct sunlight and humidity. Clean it with a dry, soft towel to remove dust.
