This salt shaker is SO GREAT! It is great looking, has a wee bit of heft so feels great in the hand. It's also so freakin' funny! I think I should buy more! A useful, and very silly gift. JUST WHAT IS NEEDED RIGHT NOW!! Thank you, Kent and Suze! XOXO

The photo doesn't do this piece justice! It's gorgeous!! I am familiar with Suze's work, I own a piece and have been to her studio. I ordered this as a gift for my sister and am now tempted to keep it for myself - I won't... It arrived in great shape and promptly.

Lovely little vase. It is also sturdy and stable. Perfect size for fresh herbs or small flower cuttings. I do not have anything to put in it at the moment but will keep it out for a while just so I can look at it.

Beautiful work! Would be right at home in a rustic, al fresco restaurant in Tuscany or Provence. The bowl is on the large side for a single serving of pasta (or chili or soup). It would be perfect as a serving dish for two people, if you need that. I am currently using mine to hold apples on the counter, which might be its best use, since it is so lovely. Customer service and shipping were perfect.

On Etsy since 2020

Suze Lindsay and Kent McLaughlin have lived and worked at Fork Mountain Pottery since 1996. Their gallery and studio, nestled in the mountain ridges on the way to Roan Mountain, is 6 miles from downtown Bakersville NC.
Visiting their studio, you will find two distinctive styles of pottery.
Kent works in stoneware and porcelain clays using traditional glazes that include celadons, shinos and iron red. These colors reflect the temperate rain forest where they live. Kent's pots are decorated using a “wax resist” technique with distinctive brushwork. Suze’s stoneware pots subtly suggest figure and character as she manipulates her forms by altering them after they are thrown on the potters wheel. She then stacks and combines parts that are hand-built to create functional forms with personality. Suze decorates her pieces by patterning and painting slips and glazes, then fires them in her salt kiln.
They share a passion for working with their hands, and for making pots for everyday use that are well crafted and a pleasure to use.
