Handmade, hand carved wood spoons and kitchen utensils are my passion.
I love new gadgets in the kitchen made out of hardwoods . I also love family heirlooms as I have many of them from my Grandmother. I hope my utensils will be the same for other families. Welcome to my shop and thank you for stopping by!
I can usually ship next day if I have it in stock. The closer to Christmas that could change. If not in stock, it will ship in 3 to 5 days.
I use salvaged, local, southern cherry wood as it is a superior wood for utensils. I use a Butcher Block finish that adds to the durability and I also sell them without finish if you prefer a more natural spoon. Just send me a convo and I will be happy to do that.
All of my spoons are hand made by me in the wood shop I share (and unintentionally took over) with my Dad. It's a good thing he loves me! My Dad is a 4th generation woodworker, making me the 5th generation and the first female in the lineage. All of the wood is salvaged by my Dad and me near our central Florida homes. I don’t use any duplicating machinery - each spoon is done individually so therefore they will each have character and no two will be alike. I promise you will be receiving a quality, functional utensil.
I love my central Florida home and the trees that God has blessed us with....especially southern cherry. I salvage all of them I can before they are chipped up! This is a great wood for utensils being the most durable and offers plenty of beautiful grain lines for added character.
God bless and have a great day!

5 out of 5 starsMy Sunday gravy spoon. Anyone who grew up in an Italian American household knows exactly what that means: equal parts cooking utensil and weapon of discipline. I searched for a long time for something that resembled my grandma's wooden spoon and this is it. All my family agrees. The extra long handle is perfect for deep pots filled with tomato sauce, meatballs, sausages, veal shanks or however else your family does it. Quality craftmanship guarantees it will be something you can pass down to your kids like my grandma did with hers.

5 out of 5 starsI absolutely love these utensils! My husband is the cook in the house and is very particular of his cooking tools. We came across DJ and her wares at a craft fair. Her utensil are beautifully made, sturdy, and work perfectly! She's easy to order from, communicate with, and quick shopping. We will definitely be ordering more!

This is where I walk to work every morning. The work shop is at my Mom and Dad's house just over the hill.

Deep Dish Heart Spoon
From Salvaged Tree to Functional Wood Spoons
I got started making spoons because my husband needed a large cooking paddle to make his famous Chicken Pilau. (A local favorite in Central Florida). Since I used the wood shop for my much needed therapy time, I couldn't wait to make one. I had so much fun making it that I started replacing all the spoons in my kitchen and then all my family and friends' spoons! Then I had so many I had to start selling them so I could buy more wood.
I started doing craft shows and have enjoyed meeting new people and returning customers. I get lots of ideas by visiting with people and making special items for them.
In 2010 I quit my job and today I spend every day in my wood shop. Every morning I check on Etsy and answer any convos and respond to orders. Then I walk to work across our cow pasture to my Mom and Dad's and visit with them before heading out to the wood shop. I have every woodworking tool I could ever dream of! I'm home in the afternoon where I do all of my hand sanding and finish work. I also check Etsy again. Then I do my packing and shipping. Everything I do there is in a 2 car garage changed to a spoon shop. And I share a small corner with my husband who sometimes works from home.
During craft show season I work 7 days a week, but I wouldn't change my life right now for anything! Thanks for reading my story and I hope you will come visit me at a craft show soon! I keep them posted on my web site at www.fortremington.com

I have been in the wood shop with my Dad all of my life. After focusing on wooden utensils, in 2010 I was able to quit my job and do this full time. I love my job and I'm very proud to be a native Floridian.
