When I was a kid, my dad used to drag me to auctions and garage sales all over rural North Dakota. I hated it, and wondered what good could possibly come from buying other peoples’ old, musty, used junk. Now, I relish the days I can spend wandering though neighborhoods and thrift stores, sifting through the stuff other people are finished with. My dad has passed on his gene that finds pleasure in getting more wear out of a seemingly worn-out thing.
A friend of mine got me hooked on felting old wool sweaters to make bags and slippers and such, and then, upon finding out that I was terribly allergic to wool fibers, I turned to leather as sort of a relief pitcher. Not being able to give up wool all together, I mix the two in various ways to make all things that are ‘found’.
Down to the zippers and snaps, almost all materials used in ‘found’ products have been reused, recycled, or rediscovered in some way. So much stuff already exists in the world that is just begging to be reborn into new and wonderful life. Many of the buttons on ‘found’ things actually come from the antique collection my dad left behind.
If your order is placed, and payment is not received within 48 hours, or if foundbynicki has not been contacted about other payment means, the item will be relisted.
I will ship your items as soon as i possibly can, which is usually 1-2 business days. Smaller things are usually shipped first class, and larger things priority. If you would like something shipped priority, please let me know before you order, and I can make adjustments. If you would like insurance or tracking added to your order, also please let me know in advance. I cannot be responsible for items lost in the mail.
foundbynicki will not assume responsibility for taxes or duty incurred with international shipping orders. please be aware of your countries regulations for the import of goods. i don't take the risk of marking things as gifts or misstating the sale price. there are civil and criminal penalties for export fraud, and the fines are steep.
I try to use all recycled packaging for mailing items-- even the packaging is part of the creative process!
If shipping costs end up being significantly less than quoted, you will be notified and refunded via paypal, or store credit.
Refunds and Exchanges
If you are unhappy with something you have purchased, send me a message and we will work it out! I take pride in my creations, and want every piece to be durable, but because of the nature of using recycled materials, it is hard to predict how something will hold up under regular use. If you simply don't like what you have ordered when you see it in person, you can return in within 7 days for a full refund, minus shipping costs.
Additional Policies and FAQs
I am open to considering consignment, and will offer a 30% discount on orders of 10 or more. Trading is also appealing, (but not guaranteed) so feel free to inquire!
