First off, welcome! Thank you for choosing to shop with me -- I appreciate your time and business.

PETS: As you probably guessed from the pictures of my Quality Control Inspectors, I do have animals. However, I am sensitive to the needs of people with allergies, and furthermore I do not smoke and I run my lampwork business in a professional manner. That means that the cats do not come in my work area (too hot! Flying HOT glass bits!), and in cleaning off bead release, beads are well washed. I store the beads in enclosed boxes, away from Shedding Fur. Despite the "Inspection," the cats do not actually come into contact with the beads.

Let me know if you wish me to take any additional measures before I ship to you -- I want you to enjoy working with my beads, not sneezing and wiping your watery eyes. (I've got massive plant allergies and am actually mildly allergic to my own QCIs, so I am sensitive to the problems allergens can cause, ranging from the mild to the life-threatening. Even though glass does not really pick up dander, you will not offend me if you want me to wash the beads again just before packaging.) (see below).

None of the Quality Control Inspectors are for sale.

Accepted payment methods

  • Other Method
Payment
I ACCEPT BOTH PAY PAL AND RME!!

TAX: If you are a Georgia resident, I have set up PayPal to collect 7% tax. The state gets rather tetchy if I don't, unfortunately. If you choose to pay through RME and are a Georgia resident, please add 7% or send me a convo and I will revise your invoice.

PAYMENT DATE: Please make your payment within three days of purchase at the latest. I know Etsy's checkout is not the easiest in the world, and can be very confusing for many people. Okay, it is downright opaque. After two days I will send you a convo, and after three days (unless we have come to an agreement in the meantime) I will cancel the sale.

LOCAL SALES: If you are a local (i.e. Atlanta metro) resident who wishes to pay with a cheque or with cash, please convo me. I am located near Clarkston, and I will be happy to meet you in a public place within the Decatur / Embry Hills / Tucker / Stone Mountain area.

CANCELLATION: If you need to cancel a sale, please let me know ASAP! The sooner you let me know, the sooner I can get the item out on my "store shelves" again :)
Shipping
YES! I combine shipping and ship internationally!

UNITED STATES: Shipping within the continental US is almost always $2.00 for the first item and .50 for each additional item. Slightly heavier items, such as pendants or fan pulls, will have a higher shipping cost.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: YES! I ship internationally! I will by default ship International First Class. I have listed a generic price on my profile, but I will refund the difference between actual and estimated shipping, if any. If you *want* priority, let me know and I will issue you a revised invoice.

CUSTOMS: International customers should be aware of the laws concerning shipping to their country. Please be aware that I will list the value of your purchase on the customs form, and that any customs duties and other fees imposed by a customer's country are NOT my responsibility. I will not falsify customs declarations.

Depending on the limits for your country, you may find it useful to make larger purchases in two or three separate purchases spaced about a week apart. The extra shipping will likely be less than the duty on the combined sale.

SHIPPING ADDRESS: In the event that your PayPal/RME and ETSY addresses are different, I try to contact you before I ship, but if I do not hear from you within two days I will ship to the official PAY PAL or the RME address, not your ETSY address.

SHIPPING NOTICE: You will get an email or a convo from me at the address you gave PayPal or RME with your shipping and tracking information.

INSURANCE: If you want your package insured (which I strongly recommend for larger purchases!), you are responsible for the additional postage. Please convo me before ordering if you would like insurance. I will make the changes to your invoice and then both convo and email you so that you can complete your purchase.

INSURANCE RATES:
$0.01 to $50.00------$1.65
$50.01 to $100.00----$2.05
$101.00 to $200.00---$2.45

SHIPPING TIME: I do my best to ship the day after your purchase. I do work afternoons and evenings, and my carrier picks up in the afternoon, so I reserve the right to ship up to four business days after your purchase. Although most of the time I can ship international packages on the same schedule, I do reserve the right to take up to a week to ship those via International First Class. If you choose Priority, I will ship within four business days.

UPGRADES: Shipping upgrades to Priority Mail (domestic or international) can be yours with a conversation and a revised invoice! Just let me know. I will charge the current going USPS rate for those services.

CUSTOM ORDERS: Custom orders of known designs may take up to four weeks after the purchase (or the approval of the spec) to ship, depending on what time of the semester it is and how booked I am. At the time of sale I will notify you of the timetable, and will definitely allow you to cancel a sale if I cannot ship in time for your needs. Custom orders of individual beads, where the "on spec" is the entire order, will ship immediately after you approve and pay for the item.

GIFTS: If you are willing to buy insurance for the gift and be responsible for collecting the refund should anything happen in transit, I will be more than pleased to gift-wrap your package and ship it to the giftee. I will not ship a gift to an address other than the PayPal address without insurance unless I have done business with you before.
Refunds and Exchanges
RETURN POLICY: I want you to be happy with your beads and jewelry! If you are dissatisfied in any way, please convo me and return them for a refund or exchange (minus shipping) within ten business days after receipt.

CUSTOM RETURNS: Custom orders may not be returned, unless they were broken or damaged in transit.

LIABILITY: I understand post office problems--packages get lost or sit in post office limbo. However, all of my beads are one of a kind. If your package gets lost, I will be happy to work with you on a refund or an exchange. If the design was one I can replicate, I will also be happy to offer a substitute, but please be aware that in that case what you finally receive will not be exactly what was pictured in the original listing.
Additional policies and FAQs
CUSTOM ORDER POLICY: Many of my beads are one-of-a-kind sets, never to be duplicated. When they are gone, they are gone. However, I have some designs that have proven popular, which I can replicate well (with the understanding that no two beads will ever look exactly alike!), and these I will place in the "custom order" section of the shop. These custom orders should all be prepaid.

"BESPOKE" WORK: If you see something you like in my "Sold items," or have something in mind, please do not hesitate to contact me. I will also accept other custom order requests, as I have time, on the following basis: I will do my best to fulfill your request on spec. When I am done, I will convo you with a picture, and if you like the beads, great--I will post a reserved listing for you. If not, no worries--but that's it. They either worked or they didn't.

I reserve the right to turn down custom work for any reason. I do have a full time job--teaching adults returning to college, and at some times during the semester I am simply to overcommitted with that work to accept custom orders and do a good job for you AND my students AND my employers :) I'd rather not take on too much than do a poor job. Another reason that I might decline an order is if I do not have any more of the materials. Some glass colours are "accidents," and the manufacturers cannot replicate them. When that glass is gone, it is GONE.

JOIN MY MAILING LIST!!! If you would like to know when I add new items to my shop, please send me a convo with your email address and I will add you to the list! I do not send promotional emails to you unless you have actively joined my list--I hate spam, and I bet you do, too. Purchasing my beads does not mean you are stuck with my email messages for the rest of creation (unless you tell me you want them!).

The QUALITY CONTROL OFFICERS are NOT FOR SALE.

CRAFTING PRACTICES: All my beads are properly annealed for their glass types in a digitally controlled AIM84BD kiln. What does that mean?

Glass contracts as it is heated and expands as it cools, the opposite of ice. You know how when you take ice cubes out of the freezer they make a CRACKing sound? They are contracting too fast, and the stress cracks the ice cube. Glass expands, and if it cools down too fast, it will also crack. Therefore to be strong it has to spend time sitting at certain temperatures to help even out any stress left in it because of its melting and cooling, and then it has to be cooled down in a controlled fashion, very slowly.

I let my glass cool down overnight. Digital controlling means that the kiln program of controlled cooling is more precise and uniform than if I adjusted the temperature manually.

Beads also have to be cleaned, to remove the white gunk in the holes. That is bead release, and it keeps each bead from sticking to the mandrel (in theory; ask me about my collection of plant stakes sometime!). It should be as thoroughly removed as possible. Some scratching in the hole and some cloudiness is normal.

Finally, each bead is inspected. My Quality Control Inspectors are really there for moral support rather than actual inspection.
