Who are we at Fourth Wave Feminist Apparel? We make shirts, pillows, pins and jewelry, and we do it because we fight for women’s rights and believe in the power of the Fourth Wave of Feminism. We are a women-inspired, women-owned, women-run, and women supporting women organization: 5% of all profits are donated to the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, which earns an incredible 100% rating on Charity Navigator for its effective work in helping students at HBCUs (historically black colleges and universities) and predominantly black institutions through leadership, lobbying, job recruiting, and scholarships.

Why do we make these shirts? It's simple: hope. Hope for progress. Hope that one voice, or many voices united, can make a difference. Hope that love and kindness and bravery and the best of human nature can persist. These aren't made to be slogan t-shirts, or meaningless words. They're meant to be your super-soft armor and the wind at your back as you go out into the world and make positive change:

"Hope makes us dangerous--not just soothed. It doesn't relieve us of duty as much as it reminds us that wind is at our back and unseen reinforcements at our sides. Yes, hope reassures, but it also emboldens. It doesn't just offer us a promise. It offers us a push." -Rev. Sara LaWall

Fourth Wave Feminist Apparel: Eco-friendly Screen Prints for the Modern Feminist

*Fourth Wave has ranked in the top 1% of all shops on Etsy since 2017!*

At the end of every month, we donate 5% of all our profits to the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, which earns an incredible 100% rating on Charity Navigator for its effective work in helping students at HBCUs (historically black colleges and universities) and predominantly black institutions through leadership, lobbying, job recruiting, and scholarships.

Back in 2013, when Noelle started Fourth Wave Apparel, the only feminist tees on the market were stiff, beefy t-shirts with the words “Feminist as Fuck.” Clearly, there was a need for something more comfortable and also more inspiring.

Her original designs were all based on vintage posters, pins, and vignettes from women’s rights movements of the past--the legacy of women who insisted on their right to vote, own property, access education, ride a bicycle, wear pants, etc. These designs paid homage to badass, courageous women who refused to know their place.

Today, Fourth Wave has expanded by hiring more amazing women with a variety of skills in everything from marketing and web design to communications. As we've grown, we've also broadened our selection of designs to include political graphics, inspiring quotes, climate change activism, and quotes from today’s feminists and activists that promote intersectionality, change, and equality in the world for all of us.

Each of our designs aim to empower women by encouraging them to embrace a broad definition of feminism, feel great in their own skin, and raise their voices to effect positive change. We aim to inspire today's generation of women to speak up, stand up, and shine. Each shirt reminds the wearer of their own inherent courage and strength. We hope our tees remind you to "put on your power" as you move throughout your corner of the world.

Each shirt or tank top in our line of feminist apparel is screen-printed by hand, by us. Our shirts are all fair trade and our inks are water-based. Not only is water-based ink better for the environment, but it will slightly fade over time to maximize the vintage appearance we're going for.

We can do it! Join us as we smash the patriarchy, empower women, and rise up together.

If you have an idea for a design, or a favorite moment from women's history (past or present!) please send! We love suggestions.

I support intersectional feminism and am working to make the world a better place. A shirt is a little thing, but if it makes someone feel bolder, braver, or more connected to others who are trying to build a more equitable world, it's not so little.

Sizing details

Fourth Wave’s t shirts run very true to size (scroll through the photos above to see real women and men wearing Fourth Wave). The blank apparel industry is filled with cheap babydoll shirts, and I’m not interested in selling you any of those. Take a look at our sizing chart (just scroll through the photos above), and order the right size for you. I absolutely love the styles I offer here. They’ve been carefully curated for their softness, fit, quality, and style. I’m also proud to offer sizes XS-4XL on almost every item in my shop. Inclusive sizing matters, and all bodies are beautiful.

Materials

I use high-quality, butter-soft, no-shrink, triple-stitched, true-to-size apparel. I take ethical sourcing and ethical production very seriously. The wholesaler I work with is a member of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC), which upholds rigorous standards for sustainability, sourcing, and ethical work conditions. As well as the Fair Labor Association (FLA) and the Quality Certification Alliance (QCA).

INK
I use eco-friendly, water-based ink that does not emit toxic fumes while curing. It’s so safe you can eat it (YUM). The ink feels soft when dry and literally becomes part of the t-shirt.
Please also note: White water-based ink is NOT 100% opaque on all t-shirt colors. This vintage look is 90-95% opaque--and beautiful.

Are Fourth Wave's products handmade?

Everything you see here is made by hand, by me, with real ink and real screens. I personally believe in the messages I create, and you’d better believe I’m wearing my own shirts out into the world as I work to make it a better place for all of us. Keep in mind that all orders are made on-demand (I don't keep a massive stock of shirts in all designs/colors/sizes because that would be WHOA). Creating your shirt on demand helps me keep costs as low as possible and gives you lots of options in size, color, design, and style.

Where can I find Fourth Wave on social media?

Seeing your photos on Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest warms my feminist husk of a heart. Whether you're marching, protesting, or having brunch with your BFF, I love to see women and men! of all shapes, sizes, ages, and colors wearing Fourth Wave feminist apparel. Tag your photo with #FourthWaveApparel find me on Facebook (Fourth Wave Apparel), Instagram (@FourthWaveApparel), and Pinterest (Fourth Wave)!

How is shipping calculated?

We offer free shipping on everything in our shop!

Want a different style?

If you don't see the style/design combo you want, never fear! I make all of my products in house, so the sky’s the limit. I don’t list all design options for every single shirt, so you don't have to scroll for 8 years, but if you love a particular style of shirt but want a different design, just let me know in your order notes.

Wholesale availability

If you’re interested in placing an order of 20+ shirts, please reach out! I’m happy to answer all your questions and can provide quick turnaround and a fantastic, quality shirt for your event or party.

Return/Exchange Policy

I want this to be your new favorite t shirt. That means, if you’re not happy with it, please reach out before leaving me a nastygram in your review. I’m not perfect--despite my best efforts, a little blob of ink escapes without my notice. But I’m always happy to make it right. On a similar note, if you LOVE your shirt, please do leave me a review--it means the world to me to know that you are wearing your feminist shirt with pride while you make positive change in the world.

Returns/exchanges accepted on all except sale items and custom requests.
