Four Wings Soap Shop, named for the beautiful dragonfly, is a plant based soap-making company using only the oils and butters that come from the earth. We make each of our skincare products with the belief the soaps, creams, lotions, body butters and skincare products we use on the outside of our bodies are equally as important to our health and well being as the foods we put into our bodies. We formulate each recipe with a passion and commitment to making soaps and skin care products that are nurturing, gentle, and kind to your skin. Our products are vegan and made with only the best skin nurturing oils and butters including Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, Mango Butter, Olive Oil, Castor Bean Oil, Avocado Oil, Sweet Almond, Sunflower and essential oils.
Our company came to be Labor Day weekend 2014 at our cabin in the woods. While our husbands took the little ones on a day's adventure, we experimented with combining natural oils, butters and essential oils, seeking out that perfect skin moisturizing body butter. After hours of melting, blending, and whipping, we were thrilled with how luxurious, moisturizing and nourishing our very first batch was…..we were hooked!
By Thanksgiving, we were making Vegan cold process handmade soap, several different essential oil body butters, sugar scrubs and lip balms. The results of our loving hard work were bundled into gift boxes and presented with excitement and pride to grandmothers, aunts, cousins, nieces, and friends.
As our home based company grew we realized we needed a name, one that identified how we felt about our soaping passion, our purpose, our goals, ideals, and our products. Months passed as we sought the name that felt right to both of us. Then once again, on one of those long weekends while we enjoyed the summer sun and breeze, a beautiful iridescent dragonfly landed next to us. As I quietly remarked on its beauty, my daughter whispered…"Four Wings"…and our company was born.
The Dragonfly symbolizes, in almost every part of the world, change. Change in the perspective of self-realization, mental and emotional maturity, depth of character, and a deeper understanding of the meaning of life. The Dragonfly's scurrying flight across the water represents going beyond what is on the surface, and it accomplishes that objective with simplicity, effectiveness, elegance and grace. The magical property of iridescence is associated with the discovery of one's own abilities.
In countries around the world the Dragonfly is associated with summer, autumn, prosperity, harmony, happiness, and purity.
