Announcement   Welcome to FoxAlive. Punk patches, photography shirts, chicano buttons, and zines created by people of color. All work is hand-made at my home in Southern California.

I use various art forms - from photography to silk-screening - to promote visibility of overlooked issues and bring affirmation to disenfranchised communities.

I have been screen-printing for five years and make all my products from home in California. As everything is hand-made by myself, carrying on the DIY spirit of punk, each product is unique. If you are a local band who would me to print some shirts, patches, or photograph a live performance please message me. I am affordable to the scene and open to trades.

======

As everything is made by hand, and I have a very busy schedule, most orders will take anywhere from 1-2 weeks to process (unless a shirt alone was ordered). Please respect this, as I am but one, and abhor being compared to Amazon Prime. Also, please don't ask to stop by my residence to pick up your order. I'm sure you're cool, but that's weird.

Any messages stating something along the lines of "I will purchase X if you ship it out faster than the stated shipping times" will be ignored. All messages asking me to re-create stolen artwork will also be ignored.

If you have any questions or concerns, please message me via Etsy. Most emails sent to the hero (dot) fox address are sent directly to spam and do get buried under actual spam.

Instead of going above & beyond for the customer the seller took the easy way out & canceled the order which was pretty predictable considering it took over a month to respond only when a case way open. Way to go foxalive👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽

To be clear, I cancelled and refunded this order after this customer opened a case against me for a delay on their order... after I messaged them it'd be delayed due to a family emergency. And while I try to not to show too much emotion in response to negative reviews like this, the fact that all they can talk about is me taking "the easy way" instead of "going above and beyond" to remedy the situation in light of that knowledge, should tell anyone reading why I outright cancelled this order when a case was opened. You don't need to care about who makes your radical clothing that talks about anti capitalist ideals, or compassion, but you do make sure to respect their personal lives.

About

What we want we must create.

FoxAlive is a one-person operation that came into existence after I was repeatedly turned down for jobs. Starting in 2011 with just a small $40 screen printing kit, FoxAlive has since grown beyond band patches to incorporate many of my own beliefs and politics; now including zines and photography showcasing people of color. Growing up Xicano in the punk community, much of what I produce integrates visuals of underrepresented communities and DIY aesthetics in hopes of creating dialogue and a sense of community among like-minded mainstream misfits.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Can you lower your shipping price? I see other shops offering shipping for much lower.

A: In a perfect world, I'd offer free shipping. However, due to past experiences, I will only ever ship items with tracking information and insurance (in the event of a loss). I understand you may be a great person, but I have tasted the sweet life of being able to point to a tracking number when something is delayed or lost. That's why it's worth more to you to purchase more items than just one, as there is a base starting fee for this service. Around 3 for US orders and ~10-15 for international.

Q: What's the current fabric being used for patches?

A: As of November 2016, I'm using a durable twill. Like all other forms of fabric, it is prone to fray if improperly sewn and with repeated washes. As is the nature for most punk-style cloth patches.

Q: How long until I get my order? I live close/in California, will it still be X weeks? This listing states X of this are available, so it shouldn't take long, right?

A: Processing times not only reflect order volume and distance, but also personal circumstances. As stated numerous times through-out the shop, FoxAlive is a solo operation run by ONE PERSON - not a collective - in over his head. Apart from the distro, I also work 48-96 hour weeks at my main job, go to school full-time, and happen to be a human being with dreams and goals beyond making patches and shirts. I try to have stuff out asap, but considering Ialso deal with on/off depression, and wrist problems, I can only dedicate so much time to FoxAlive before my wrist burns out or I start feeling like I only exist to serve capitalism. So the X amount of weeks in processing time isn't meant to keep me lazy as it is to keep Fox, well, alive.

Q: I know shipping says 1-2 weeks, but what's average?

A: 1-2 weeks.

Q: Can you make *this* patch bigger/smaller?

A: Due to the process of how these patches are made, all design sizes are final. If you'd like an altered design to any degree, including a one inch enlargement, you will have to pay for a custom patch.

Q: Are your patches iron-ons? Are they embroirded?

A: All my patches are made using silk screen printing. There is no "iron-on" backing. Everything is made to be hand sewn.

Q: Why do your patches cost so much? It's just cheap fabric and spray-paint.

A: No, it's not. And the reason it costs so much is due to the Etsy/PayPal fees associated with each sale. If I charge any less, I get more orders a week than what I ship out. This may seem great from a business standpoint, but being the only person behind FoxAlive for the past five years, I'm tired of always playing catch up on orders when I'm not being forced to justify shipping times (seriously, imagine getting off your main job just to get home to more work). What I charge now for patches (specifically small patches which are ~80% of my sales) no longer takes into account material alone, but also my own time and energy.

Q: Can you make me a custom shirt/patch/button?

A: Yes, of course! I actually have a couple listings designated for shirts, patches, and buttons with step-by-step instructions on how to place an order. Please be aware, if you commit to an order, you are giving me a 30 dollar non-refundable deposit for my time in designing and/or prepping a screen for your custom order.
