framedtraditions' Shop Announcement

"Framed Traditions" are pieces of handmade mixed media art created from sarees (traditional Indian attire for women) inherited from previous generations.

Each "Framed Tradition" is created by extracting the non-damaged parts of old sarees and mixing and matching the borders with the bodies to form various patterns and collages. The art pieces may also be 3-dimensional, created by blending in other elements like jewelery or silver objects with the pleated sarees in shadow box frames. The sarees are either cotton or silk and usually have heavily embroidered borders. The art pieces are all sold with frames and 50% of profits are donated towards funding children's education in India.

We take custom orders for creating Framed Traditions for saris that you may want to preserve from your previous generations. For custom orders please send a direct message.
