Announcement    Welcome! My special interest is in Edwardian and Art Deco Diamond Rings and other special pieces from those periods in history. I try to have beautiful vintage/antique jewelry for everyone's budget...please enjoy browsing and don't hesitate to convo me with any questions. ** Thank you to Lucky Magazine for featuring my shop in the article: "40 Etsy Stores That Are Vintage Goldmines - Twice!!" **

I am happy to ship internationally...please convo me for shipping costs and additional information if your country is not itemized in the listing. I normally ship Priority International with full Insurance, unless your country has restrictions. (ie: Israel and Japan require jewelry to be sent only by Registered First Class International Mail) Please note that many countries have customs duties and taxes that are always paid by the Buyer. Thank you!

One of my goals is to get the best prices to pass along savings to you.... If you have any questions please do not hesitate to convo me...I'm happy to chat. I always do my best to describe things as accurately and as conservatively as possible to avoid any disappointment! My photography skills are not the greatest, so my jewelry tends to look much better in person!

** Please Note that all monitors display colors differently. I describe colors in words within the listing, as well as try and take photographs in different lighting conditions. Some gems also look different depending upon the light they are viewed in. So, please know that what you see on your monitor may differ. I do my best with calibration of my own hardware, but can't say how your monitors will read and display my photos. This is one of the reasons I believe that it's important to have a review/return period for items purchased online. **

I will endeavor to ship your item within 24 hours of cleared payment - within the US via USPS Priority Mail or Priority Express Mail with tracking and full insurance coverage included in the cost. (normally 2-3 business days in transit, though sometimes there are unexpected postal/weather delays) Other shipping options are possible, (Express, Fedex and UPS) so please convo me to discuss your needs. Shipping to Canada will be via Registered First Class Mail and to Australia and most other countries, I use Priority International Mail with insurance. Some countries I can ship using FedEx or UPS (like the UK) as USPS no longer allows jewelry shipments to those countries.

Thanks so much for stopping by....I truly appreciate your business!

About

Jewelry as Art, Adornment and History

Admiring and learning about jewelry/gemology has been a passion of mine for decades....

Now I am so pleased to be able to share my passion with others who appreciate the craftsmanship, artistry and style of old jewelry...

It's my pleasure to assist you in finding the perfect piece...whether it is a special engagment or promise ring, or a piece to become a new family heirloom...

I feel strongly that everyone should be able to enjoy beautiful jewelry and so I don't mark up my prices the way most jewelry sellers do. Negotiating the best prices so I can offer my customers a truly reasonable price is one of my goals...that and accurate, thorough descriptions accompanied by the kind of customer service I like to receive....buying fine jewelry online should not be scary!

I'm a proud member of the juried Etsy Vintage Team and the amazing Vesties Team!

Returns and exchanges
I want you to be very happy with your purchase!

I understand it can be tricky to buy jewelry online - especially for something as important as an engagement or wedding ring....it's such a big decision and I want your decision to be a joyful one!

I do offer a three day review period for jewelry....I ask that I be convo'd within three days of the item(s) arrival if they are not right for you...and return insured shipping within one week is the responsibility of the Buyer, please. Once the item(s) are returned in original condition (with the original jewelry box(es) and/or pouch as well as any included appraisal, please) I will refund the original purchase price (any shipping charges are not refundable) via paypal, usually within 24 hours (or by mailing a check if that was your payment method), or you may choose an item for exchange, if desired. Sometimes transfer into my paypal account can take up to a few days time....so, on occasion, refunds may take up to 3 business days.

Please understand that all sales are final after the initial three day review period, and if you choose to have my bench jeweler custom size your ring(s) that means the ring(s) are not returnable. However, if the sizing needs to be adjusted within those first three days, I will be happy to have my jeweler take care of that for you. If you are not certain if a ring is right for you, it would be best to see it unsized first, and we can always make arrangements for sizing once you are sure it is the right piece for you!
Payment
I happily accept Paypal as well as credit cards & Gift Cards through Etsy's Direct Checkout. Payment by US postal money order and personal check may be arranged under some circumstances but will need to be approved by me before moving forward with a purchase. (please convo me to discuss it!) Please note that checks and postal money orders need to be received within one week's time and checks will need to clear before shipment of your item. Thanks for understanding.
Shipping
I will endeavor to ship your item within 24 hours of receiving cleared payment. (Monday - Friday...our island post office is closed on Saturdays) Shipment within the US will normally be via USPS Priority Mail, with insurance (requiring a signature) and delivery confirmation included in the listed price. Fedex and UPS are also possible; please message me with your postal code for a precise quote. Shipments to Canada are by Registered First Class Mail and to Australia and most other International countries via Priority International Mail with insurance. Since USPS no longer allows shipping fine jewelry to the UK, I am happy to use Fedex or UPS, though there are additional brokerage fees for their service. I'm happy to ship to other locations that allow for insurance coverage on fine jewelry...please convo me to discuss the options and prices. Thank you!

** Please make sure that both your Paypal and Etsy shipping address is current and correct, to allow your package to reach you. If an order is returned to me due to an incorrect address, reshipping will result in new shipping charges, which will be the responsibility of the buyer. If an order is sent to the address supplied at checkout and it turns out to be an incorrect/not current address, a refund can only be made if the package is returned to me...so, please....double check that your shipping address is correct! Thank you!

** Please note on International shipments that ALL Customs Duties/Taxes/Brokerage Fees are the responsibility of the Purchaser, and I cannot mark items as gifts or with inaccurate pricing. If a package is refused at delivery due to you not wanting to pay customs fees/duty/taxes, a refund less shipping cost will be made once the package makes it back to me safely. Thank you! **

(Here is a calculator that is supposed to help determine the taxes/duty to and from different countries, though I don't know how accurate it is: www.dutycalculator.com/new-import-duty-and-tax-calculation) I recommend checking with your local authorities about the cost of taxes/duty before purchase.

I will email you a confirmation with tracking info once your item has shipped so you can be on the lookout for your parcel.
Additional policies and FAQs
Normally I cannot hold an item longer than 24 hours without a deposit. Reserving an item for a specified short period of time that we both agree to may be possible with a non refundable deposit....Please message me to discuss it. I know sometimes jewelry will get snapped up quickly!

Please be respectful and don't send lowball offers on my pieces. I work extremely hard to find special pieces and offer them at very reasonable prices, with low profit margins. I offer the same prices to other dealers that I offer to my other customers. It's rare that I have much wiggle room (sometimes I don't have any wiggle room) because I don't do the big mark ups that so many jewelers put on their pieces. If I have any negotiating room I will be honest about it, but I simply don't haggle. Some people love the haggling process but I don't, and I've created my business so that one doesn't have to be a great haggler to get wonderful prices on my jewelry. Thank you.

**** Resizing: There has recently been some confusion about what I mean when I say a ring could be resized by a jeweler, so I would like to clarify that for you. Some older rings may be too fragile to be resized or have too much filigree in the setting so they cannot be resized either up or down. Some jewelers are more comfortable than others taking on a specialized project like an antique ring. (I have a particularly great jeweler whom I trust and you are welcome to ask me for their detailed opinion on a piece) I strongly recommend that you find a jeweler that does the work in-house with their own bench jeweler to ensure the work is done well and safely. Many large jeweler shops send out to have the work done, and that is often much less successful and more expensive!

When I specify in a listing that a ring may be resized I am saying that the style, setting and overall condition will allow it to be resized safely. I cannot always say if there is enough gold or platinum in the band to size it as is (that depends on the number of sizes you are increasing it and how your jeweler works) or if your jeweler will need to use additional gold/platinum at an additional cost. There is simply no way I can know that -or know the cost - as the gold market fluctuates daily! Please understand that I am happy to give my advice, but sizing and the related costs will be the buyer's responsibility. Thanks very much for understanding and please don't hesitate to convo me with any questions you may have!

I am always happy to get a custom price quote from my own bench jeweler who does wonderful work on vintage and antique items.....I would then either send the ring directly to them for you or have you work directly with them yourselves. Usually I recommend the customer see the ring in person before sizing to ensure it is the right ring, since returns are not available once sizing has been done. IF you are purchasing a ring from my shop, I am also happy to research jewelers in your area in order to find one that is recommended for doing work on older pieces...please convo me if you are interested in this kind of help post-sale. I can't guarantee they will be the right match for you, but I am happy to make phone calls and see what I can do for you. Thank you! ****

Gift Certificates are now available in any amount you wish...perfect for a special gift! There is no expiration date, so the gift certificate may be used at any time....however, cash/paypal refunds are not available for purchases made with gift certificates...though an exchange or store credit will be issued if the return is made following my usual return policy. (ie: that I am notified by convo within 3 days of the item's arrival and the item is returned in it's original condition and box(es) within one week.) Gift certificates may be personalized and will arrive beautifully gift wrapped and ready to present!

**** Care of your Vintage/Antique Jewelry: All fine jewelry requires careful handling and regular maintenance to keep items in good, wearable condition...and vintage/antique pieces are no exception. Examination with magnification by a jewelry professional should be completed on a regular basis, so that any loose settings can be remedied before a stone is lost. Those that wear their jewelry while very active (which generally is not recommended) should have this done more frequently. Metals - especially silver and gold - will wear with use, so bands and settings do need to be taken care of over time. This is true for all jewelry, new or old. Vintage/Antique jewelry is expected to have some wear, which I do my best to carefully describe in my listings. If I recommend re-tipping or tightening of stones, or other work, please do keep this in mind, so that you will be happy with your special piece of jewelry.

It's best not to wear your fine jewels while housecleaning, doing dishes, gardening, exercise, showering and other activities that are strenuous or that will potentially put your jewelry in contact with cleaning solutions/chemicals..

Special care should be taken of pearls, opals, emeralds and other porous and/or fragile gems. Diamonds, sapphires and rubies are naturally fairly durable and can be cleaned easily at home. I like to use a spritz of a gentle, natural dish soap in warm water, with a generous splash of vinegar to act as a degreaser. After a brief soak, you may use an old soft toothbrush to gently scrub the stones. Rinsing should be done carefully, ideally in a separate bowl of clean water, so any stones that might become loosened will not go down the drain! Air drying or using a hair dryer works well. Polishing cloths work nicely to buff up the shine of metals, though some prefer the natural patina that develops.

Lastly - insuring your fine jewelry is always a good idea, and is the Buyer's responsibility once you own the piece. Many renter's and home owner's policies offer insurance riders specifically geared to protecting against loss and damage of personal fine jewelry.
