Jewelry = Memories = People = Love
My grandmother was a treasure hunter who's life was told through her jewelry box. My fondest memory as a little girl is being perched on my grandmother's bed as she sifted through countless drawers of her most precious pieces of jewelry - some costume, some precious stones. She would show me the different colors and teach me the names of the stones, and share the unique stories behind each one. If I was lucky, she'd even let me try a few on. These pieces of jewelry were really special, as some were passed down to her from the generations before her. She believed in sharing beautiful things with the people she loved, and in turn she passed her most beloved pieces on to my mother and my mother to me. She showed me that jewelry is so much more then just something you wear, but it is how we share memories and pass on legacies.

My metals include silver-plated, gold-plated, sterling silver and 14k gold-fill. The earwires I use are silver-plated surgical & stainless steel, gold-plated surgical & stainless steel, sterling silver, and 14K gold-filled.
A note about sterling silver: although your sterling silver item will arrive to you shiny and gleaming, it is possible that over time, especially if immersed in chlorinated water, the metal will tarnish. However any jewelry cleaning solution or polishing rag will shine them right up again. This is normal with sterling silver.
Just for fun...
THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GOLD-PLATED, GOLD-FILL, and REAL GOLD (for anyone who cares):
This can be a confusing topic, so here’s some insight to help you make the right choice ...
Real gold in its purist form starts as 24K gold (there are 24 x 1K units, the karats representing the unit of measurement). Since pure 24K gold is very soft, often times it is combined with other alloys to strengthen it for everyday wear in jewelry, giving us 10K, 12K, 14K, 18K, 20K etc - the karat number indicating the percentage of real gold in the mixture (for example 12K gold means there is 50% pure gold or 12/24 in the mixture). The higher the karat, the more real 24K gold is in the metal mixture. Solid gold is very expensive.
Gold-fill is a very heavy plating of gold (usually 14K gold) over a base metal, usually brass or steel. The layers of karated gold in gold-fill are 100 times thicker then "gold-plated”. Gold-fill will never chip, tarnish, or scratch and should be fine with sensitive ears (the metal actually touching the skin is 24K gold, its just not solid 24K gold all the way through). By law, the amount of karated gold plated over the base metal must be at least 1/20 of the entire weight of the metal. Gold-fill is an incredibly a high quality product, without the expensive price tag of solid gold.
Gold-plate (or silver-plate) is a light plating of gold (or silver) over a base metal (brass, steel, copper, nickel, etc) and is very inexpensive. The base metal is plated with thin layers of either silver or gold by using electronic pulses. Small traces of other alloys, such as zinc, copper, brass, or steel) are used in this process. Gold or silver plate may have a tendency to tarnish over time, and may irritate sensitive ears.
If you happen to be someone with an allergy to a certain kind of metal, please be aware of the metals used in the plating process. (Note: the process of gold-fill plating and gold-plate plating are entirely different). Feel free to contact me if you are in need of specific metals to be used in your piece. I will try my very best to accommodate you.
