Patina varies with time, location, and handling. To return copper to a bright pink shine, use a microfiber cloth and Brasso TM or a similar cleaner meant for copper.
To lock in a certain level of patina, first clean the piece with denatured alcohol and a microfiber cloth. Then you can apply clear nail polish to smaller pieces or spray with a lacquer or clear coat for larger pieces. Everbrite TM also makes products for this.
Applying a thin coat of oil can also help to slow and even out the patina process. Be sure to remove this before attempting any sealing process.
