    About

    the chemistry of nature

There are things that happen in the molecular world that drive certain equations and eventualities. When this happens without any intervention, we call it nature.

For me, the story starts seven years ago when, after a college degree of neuroscience and a master's in nutrition, I decided to put my medical school plans on hold so that I could focus on caring for my small children at home. One day rolled into the next, in somewhat of a monotonous fashion, and before I realized, I suddenly had two potty-trained children who were spending more time at school. I love spending my days with them and that time has slipped through the sieve of maturity all too quickly. We wanted to capture the magic with them always and decided moving our family to a small farm where we could place roots and memories was the answer.

Caring for my children, especially my daughter's battle with seasonal eczema, inspired me to use what I had learned a lifetime ago and figure out gentler, kinder ways to nurture their skin and bodies, our farm, and our home as well. I discovered that not only were we focusing on quality inputs, we also became less materialistic, less wasteful, more streamlined into our needs, and we saved money to boot!

It all came together when I found out my ancestors were soap-makers in Spain. Maybe my biochemistry had been driving me all along.

I have a deep and abiding love for this beautiful natural world we live in and, most of all, for my children and husband and family. Through them and our farm, our days have been stacked with purpose and drive and responsibility. Those qualities, after all, is the natural world we live in.

Call it fate or whatever, but ending up a soap maker only to find out I have a family heritage in the art smacks of some sort of destiny. I'm a mom who studied neuroscience and nutrition and now I also care for a farm full of cute, fuzzy animals.

I love making all of my products by hand using heritage soaping techniques with whole and natural ingredients, using what I can from my own farm.

I absolutely avoid the practice of over-spending and over-charging for wasteful packaging materials. I use environmentally responsible materials and the kindest ingredients and products. When you shop at Hadleigh Grange, you are choosing quality, less waste, and a responsible and sustainable way to live.

I believe that we should nourish our bodies, inside and out, with the best that nature has to offer.
