5 out of 5 starsHow I adore this painting! I would give this shop and this piece ten stars if I could. The seller has an incredible eye for art and her descriptions and care are truly exceptional. Despite Canada Post strike the painting arrived safely before Christmas, making me very happy.

5 out of 5 starsA brooding dark cloud is fixed over the tortured cape. Forces in flex. Linda is the best.

5 out of 5 starsThe landscape is done in light browns and greens. I suspect the artist was more concerned with his Bounteous Boat-load of Beauteous Belles. Linda always finds interesting pieces. Bob

Frequently asked questions
What can I expect when I buy an antique or vintage painting?
When you buy an old painting, either from the 19th or 20th centuries, you are buying a piece of history. Paintings and their frames do not travel though time unscathed, so you should expect signs of age and previous ownership. Please read the description carefully, in particular, the paragraph on condition and please do ask if you have any questions on the piece.
What can I expect of French Art Treasures and their customer service?
The relationship between us and our customers is paramount. We like to exceed your expectations. We give every one of our pieces the care and attention it deserves from the time we receive it, to the time it arrives safely in the hands of the buyer. Where necessary, the paintings are professionally cleaned and frames restored so that they arrive ready to hang. A brief condition report is made on the listing so that you know what you are buying.
How do you ship the paintings?
We wrap and box every painting carefully and with due diligence. We usually send stock with the LaPoste's COLISSIMO or CHRONOPOST services. These are incredibly reliable and we have successfully shipped over a thousand paintings all over the world with them. Once your parcel is sent you will receive a track and trace number. You can of course ask us at anytime on the progress of the shipment.
What if the frame is damaged due to fragility/movement?
We prefer to keep old paintings and their frames together. However, transporting older frames carries risks and you should be aware that although all our paintings leave here with the frames as described and are wrapped professionally with added protection for fragile frames there is a possibility that frames may suffer additional losses during transport due to general vibration & movement, this is not necessarily the fault of the shipping company and is just age related fragility. We can advise on repairs, often a case of just gluing a piece of moulding back on or you can opt to return your painting.
What happens if something goes wrong with the delivery?
In the unlikely case that something goes wrong and your package and the contents are damaged you should notify us and the company that delivered your package within 48 hours. DO NOT THROW AWAY THE BOX!! If you do it could make your claim null and void as it could prove the deliverer's liability and you may need it to return the painting. Take multiple photos of the box and the contents and complete a claim form with the deliverer. Send us a copy of the claim form for a refund. PLEASE NOTE: I do not refund for unclaimed or undeliverable packages.
Customs duties & delays
All our paintings leave with the correct paperwork including an individualised customs passport and copies of the invoice. We are registered on platforms such as EORI (for UK and Swiss imports) and the German LUCID packaging database to enable quick shipping and reduce delays. We have shipped hundreds of paintings to the USA and comply with all of their requirements for custom free deliveries. We will help you to track your painting through customs if there are any undue delays. However, we are not responsible for any delays. Any applicable custom duties and/or taxes are the responsibility of the buyer.
Can I return my painting if I don't like it?
Yes, if you want to return a painting you must notify us within 24 hours and return the piece within 14 days from the date that you received it. Buyers are responsible for return postage costs and we recommend that you insure and track it as we cannot be responsible for any losses during transport. If the item is not returned in its original condition, the buyer is responsible for any loss in value. We do not offer refunds for sales goods or goods sold at a discount.
