About

I've been sewing something all my life. I am always creating.

My maternal grandmother taught me to sew on her old Singer treadle machine when I was eight years old, out of self-defense. I was in her way, and I asked a lot of questions. I loved the three small drawers on each side of the giant machine, and I fumbled through the silver bobbins, bright colors of threads, and scraps of trim that I found there. In her frustration, she decided to teach me how to operate her machine and the uses for all the little tools and attachments. I've been sewing ever since.

I continue to be amazed at how a tiny snippet of woven trim becomes a garment for a little doll, or how a piece of common burlap can be made into a stylish pillow. Friends pass along remnants of high end decorator and vintage fabrics, leather and brocades that I repurpose into something new. I use found objects, vintage buttons and medals and each item I make takes on a personality.

My current love is creating additions to my line of “Moxie Mollies”, dolls for big girls with attitudes. Just as women are made in all shapes, sizes and colors, so are the Moxie Mollies. Every one is different and unique, and they wear their favorite poems, quotes and inspirations. As a writer, I sneak in a few of my own poems and brief narratives to stitch onto Moxie Mollies.

These days, I make something every day ..... some days I take on a project that may take me a month to complete. I've made cloth dolls, jewelry, clothing and baby shoes. I think my favorites are the cloth dolls. I will keep sewing and making things forever! I work 30-40 hrs each week as a minister, and that is a stressful job at times.

Additional policies and FAQs
My items are handmade and while there are similarities, no two items are alike. While I attempt to represent my handmade items as best I can, if you have any questions or would like a custom item, please contact me. Most of my home decor listings are in the "shabby-chic" category, using vintage and imported fabrics, and are not intended to look as perfect as machine made.
