Welcome to Friction Jewelry!

Friction Jewelry is owned, operated and loved by Mike DiCerbo. Originally from upstate New York Friction and Mike D are now based in sunny & classy San Diego, CA. Our big events are pop-up holiday stores in New York City and Philadelphia where our entire line of products is on display. In addition we do various events around the country, usually craft fairs, retail shows or trade shows. At home in San Diego we can be found at local farmer's markets selling our stuff and designing new stuff!

What's a Design Boutique ?

We sell a mixture of designs, some made in-house and others from local California and NYC suppliers. Sometimes I combine components from different suppliers to make a unique piece. Kind of like changing the rims on your '82 Camero and painting it gold...or turning it into a boat! My design background and experience is more about composition, concept and style than it is in actual jewelry making, metal smithing etc.

In 2007 I began making jewelry in my little kitchen in a one bedroom apartment in Astoria, NY. I am an Architectural Lighting designer / engineer by trade but I learned all my jewelry making skills from YouTube videos. I owe much of my business experience to a great guy named Marpa, owner of Crossroads Jewelry, who introduced me to retail and wholesale accessories. Since I had zero capital to start the business other than the limits of my Visa card, I began selling at small weekend markets in Soho. As things progressed little by little I began to gain retail and wholesale clients around the country and now thousands of my fabulous fans from all over the world have my jewelry around the necks! I am always looking for new inspiration, new adventures and new people to meet so I hope to see you at our next event! I love chatting even more than the actual business so please come say hello!
