Some prints that I'm sending out today. I'm very thankful for the good people of the world that appreciate weird art. I always include a free 4x6 print or two with every order which is nice if you're giving my art as a gift. There's something for you too.
Crow girls pendant is back in stock. This would make a cool gift for that hard to buy for goth friend. You know the one.
New custom pet portrait option in my shop. I can do a dog, cat or any pet.

About

About me

I feel so lucky to have art in my life. I'm not sure what I'd be doing with my life if I didn't, but I think I'd most likely be working with animals in some way. I've always had a connection with animals, which is something that I got from my grandmother, who was also an amazing painter and sculptor. She passed away before I could fully appreciate her, but I think I got a lot of my qualities, both as it relates to art and animals, from her.

The mixed media work I do ranges from restored and altered antique portraits to handmade collages. I'm originally a photographer, but for the last few years have concentrated on mixed media, and it's been nice to be able to work on things at home, rather than having to go out to find things to shoot. By nature, I'm a hermit, so this is fine by me.

I use antique photos in my work, mostly from the Victorian era, but because they are in many cases over 100 years old, they require a lot of restoration before I can even start to alter them. I do this by scanning and enlarging them, and then slowly cleaning up the damaged areas in photoshop. This can take anywhere from a couple of hours to a week, depending on how badly damaged they are. There have been times while restoring a portrait that I have wanted to give up, thinking the photo was beyond repair, but when I finally finish, it's rewarding to know I stuck with it. Working with photos this old often feels like I'm working with ghosts, and I sometimes think about what the people in the photos would think about what I'm doing to them. Hopefully they would see the fun in it, and not think it's too weird. I have nothing but love and admiration for these old portraits.

Most of 2015 was spent making one of a kind mixed media sculptures and assemblages, which were exhibited in galleries. 2016 has been a personally difficult year, but in July, I started to create jewelry featuring my artwork, which is something I have wanted to do for a long time. I've always felt that my work would translate well to this medium and I'm happy to say that it has.

Thanks for visiting my little part of Etsy and I hope you enjoy my work.
