A creative fairytale

It all started when I got engaged. I had one year to plan and not much money to do it with. I thought I'd take the year and be my own wedding planner. I began creating the invites by hand to my 75 wedding guests. I always had enjoyed crafting and did it before hand as a hobby, but doing it for my wedding opened a new door. I was able to put my creative sense to work. So I didn't stop at just the invites. I went onto the décor. Being quite frugal, I managed to work my décor budget into a neat $100! (Pure luck) Then I created the song list with my own choice of songs and got my uncle to dj for me. The favors I decided should be created by me as well. I went out to the fabric store and bought a few yards of quilting fabric. A month later and I had 75 Christmas stocking favors ready to give to my wedding guests. The feeling of adding one's own creative touch was so wonderful. So, I began creating fabric flowers for my bouquet and for my maitrons of honor bouquets. I created my own veil, hairpieces and jewellery for my maitrons of honor.

When it was all over there was a sense of emptiness since there was no longer anything to create for. So to my delight when I found out about Etsy it gave me something to create for again. But this time, there was no need to restrict my creativity to only one wedding.

Benefits of a handmade bouquet:

Long Lasting: There's no worrying if the weather will kill your flowers and no need to keep those stems wet.

No work: Buying real flowers comes with responsibility to know how to take care of them, to de-thorn them, arrange them, peel outer petals off. Skip the hassle.

Keepsake: Remember the happiest day of your life by displaying your bouquet on a mantle piece or mounting it into a shadow box.

Hypo-Allergenic: For those with natural flower allergies, or who are frightened of bees ;)
