About

Small beginnings

My need to create goes way back to when I was a little girl. My parents were makers, not in an ‘arty’ sense but through necessity of having little money to buy what they wanted or to replace broken things. It was a pain when I was little, yes mum, the blue dress made of curtains with large pictures of keys all over still makes me go red! (check out my 'little me' picture). As I got older I grew to understand and love my parents for the 'make do and mend' attitude.

Therefore it has always come naturally to me to make things. I had the best home-made bondage trousers when I was a punk, I had a fantastic hand sewn maternity dress made from a fabric stage backdrop, and when my children were small my most favourite thing was making their fancy dress outfits. An excuse to use many different textures and colours. I knitted, sewed and made toys, pretty much the same way my parents did.

Then the oddest thing happened, my children grew up! They didn’t appreciate their hand knitted jerseys, or sewn trousers or Batman and Robin fancy dress costumes! Luckily etsy came to my rescue, I had a new outlet for my creativity. I am so amazed that people all over the world have come to my shop to browse and buy things. I really appreciate my buyers, each and every one.

I started in a rush, I discovered etsy and literally couldn’t wait to set up my shop! In the first place I had not even thought of a name. In my haste to get up and running I used the name I had for my spam mailbox as my shop name! Sheesh!

My first item listed was the calico bunny that is in my shop. Each time I sell one I make another, I think it is only fitting that I keep the original one that started my etsy voyage.

I have learned a lot on my etsy journey, I have made friends, earned money, honed my skills. Still my items are inspired by my interest at the time.

Now I have four grandchildren my sewing machine is busier than ever, a new range of dress up outfits awaits!

Delivery of new fabric, paired with some unbleached calico really does rock my world. Add hot chocolate and good music to the mix, hit the sewing machine pedal!

Me wearing the key dress. Wouldn't have been my first choice of fabric, but it was the sixties I suppose!

I send via Royal Mail. I charge for post and packing but will refund any unused amount over £1 paid via paypal, I like my postage and packaging costs to reflect the real cost. Your order may be charged import duty, custom fees or taxes for your order once it reaches your country. As the buyer you are responsible for these charges.

Please remember that it is your responsibility to make sure your correct address is listed with Etsy and Paypal. I will not be held responsible if you do not give the correct address to ship to.

If a parcel is returned to me as undeliverable to the recipient I will either resend at your cost or I will refund the price of the item less the postage cost.

Please note some of my items contain lavender that is not allowed to be shipped to some countries, if you buy and we then discover I am unable to send lavender to your country I will give you the choice of a refund or for the item to be filled with just stuffing instead.

Please know that you have the right to cancel an order within 14-days if you change your mind and wish to return a product, this does not include custom orders as is stated below. As stated above you can convo me to put this into action. I also have a withdrawal form which you may use but are not obliged to.

Please note I do not give refunds for custom items that are not re-sellable, for example my personalised cards or items with custom fabrics as I will not be able to resell these items. Digital downloads are non-refundable. Digital downloads will arrive with you as a PDF (portable document file). Once downloaded open the document and use from your screen or print out. Digital download files are not for re-sale.

If you receive an item which is damaged in some way, please contact me directly via the convo system. I will expect detailed photos before I can make a decision on how to proceed. I may have to have the item shipped back to me before I can make a refund.
Additional policies and FAQs
I make many custom orders. We can use the custom order button as this makes the process much easier. If you have any questions or queries convo me and we can talk!

Please note I do not give refunds on custom items, for example my personalised cards and anything with a custom fabric as I will not be able to resell these items.
Also digital downloads are non-refundable. Digital downloads will arrive with you as a PDF (portable document file).

All of my packaging materials are commercially recycled or reused items. For example my postage bags and tissue paper are recycled and my stickers are home-made on recycled sticker paper that was destined for landfill.

I usually buy my card from my local scrapstore which reuses items that have been donated to them via local industries and are items that would otherwise have ended up in landfill. If you would prefer me not to use any recycled packaging please state this on the message to seller or via convo.
