My roots are showing

As a kid I hated dolls. I was always much more interested in my brother's action figures which could hold poses. My mom is a ceramics artist and taught me from a young age how to paint and glaze figures. Every year I would compete at the state ceramics show and win ribbons, but the static nature of the pieces never satisfied me.

It wasn't until I was in college and sewing Renaissance costumes, that a fellow seamstress had to show me what she was sewing for. On that fateful day I saw my first BJD. It took months to bring myself to buy my first doll. Within hours after his arrival I had taken him apart and put him back together. Just days later I had taken my dremel to him and modified his eyes. Within a year I had a small collection and had opened a shop for blushing and modification services to help pay my way through college. While I no longer take customization commissions from others, I still love customizing my own dolls.

The customizable nature of BJDs really appealed to me. They were meant to be played with. To be taken apart and reassembled. To be painted and clothed anyway I could dream of. And even carved by the especially brave. They are sculptural works of art that inspire myself and others to be creative in many ways, from painting, to photography, to sewing, fashion, and costume design.

The dolls have certainly inspired my creativity and as a result I have won various awards. Some of my BJD awards include:
*First place in the customization/costuming contest at Uncanny Dream Articulated Fantasy2011 for Zornon, my Dollshe Orijean
*First place in the faceup contest (60cm category) for Ennominae my Juri05 Moth girl at the 2012 Uncanny Dreams
*First place in the My Favorite Doll MSD category at the St. Louis BJD 2012 convention for my customized Machina Epsilon that I painted
*Best in Show for Ennominae my Juri05 moth girl at the 2012 St. Louis BJD convention
*First place in the faceup contest at the PNW BJD Expo 2013
*First place in the anthropomorphic costume contest at the PNW BJD Expo 2013
*First place in the Tiny Faceup contest at Uncanny Dreams 2013

I love making fun and nice items for my dolls. When I come up with something exceptional, I love sharing them with my friends and others. After a few years of crafting little items for myself, I found a gorgeous fur at a Renaissance faire and was inspired to make some wigs for my dolls. Demand quickly rose and I was making wigs for my friends and others.

My shop was born as a venue to sell my Tibetan lamb wigs, and later evolved to share faux fur wigs as well.

In the past year my work has evolved to include handmade clothing items for BJDs as well as wigs for Monster High dolls. I'm always working on something new, and plan to offer more fun items in the very near future.

Owner, Maker, Designer, Mistress Of Everything

BJDs found me and have become my passion. I've won multiple awards for painting and customizing my dolls and their clothing. When I'm not playing with my dolls you'll find me curled up with a cookie, a frappucchino, and a good book.

  • Phyto-cat

    Morale Officer

Meer, meow, purr. I'm Phyto, Lori saved me from an unsavory bathroom when I was a kitten and now I sleep on her feet and keep her company. I'm more of a supervisor than a helper in the shop.

  • Mike

    Cookie Master/Deliveries

I'm an engineer in the pulp and paper industry, and Lori's husband. I'm also the one that takes most of the packages to the post office and brings Lori frappuccinos. I also make pretty good cookies.

Welcome to my little doll shop!

Occasionally I might sell a jewelry piece intended for adults, however all of my wigs are for dolls. I'm unable to make wigs for children, and my jewelry pieces may have choking hazards. Therefore, everything in my shop is not a toy and intended for adult collectors only.

Please remember that some of my items are made from natural products, which vary from inch to inch; and that all of my items are handmade. My faux fur wigs are made from manufactured fabrics and the hair length is set, I cannot make them longer and I leave all trimming and shortening to then buyer.

If I can't do my best on something, I feel like I've cheated everyone. So, sometimes I get a little nervous and self conscious, and I strive to only put my best foot forward when it comes to my items. I also try to keep a sense of humor about myself, my dolls, and my work. If it isn't fun, I don't want to do it, and I certainly won't sell it.

For my natural wigs, I trace my patterns onto leather/skin/Tibetan lambswool (whatever you want to call them, they're fabulous!) skins with a pen, pencil, chalk or Sharpie and then cut them out with a craft knife from the leather side. This method minimizes cut hairs. I do my best to avoid leathers that are made from 'plate' type mohair (stitched together from many smaller pieces). I find that when I try to make wigs from plates, the hair goes many whacky directions, has gaps, shows lots of stitching, and just doesn't look right. That's just me though! My patterns are one piece that I cut out and stitched together, other folks with multiple piece patterns don't have these issues. :-P

I do my best to make customers happy. If you have any questions or concerns I'll be happy to address them and I'll do my best so that everybody is happy.

Returns and exchange details
If you purchased this item for a child or Halloween costume, please cancel your order within 1 hour for a refund. I do not make wigs for children, nor will I be shipping at all during the month of October.

If an item is lost in the mail, I will do my best to replace it. Ooak mohair wigs are more difficult to replace and can be impossible - but I will try to replace with a similar item. If I'm unable to provide a suitable replacement, I will refund you. If you are international, please give at least six weeks for an item to show up before asking for a refund.

If an item doesn't fit, or isn't right, let me know. Please don't modify the item in any way (including trimming, resewing, combing, or stretching) I will not refund for damages that you make. I will work with you to find the perfect fit, solution, and make sure everybody is happy.

Buyer's remorse is tough, I've been there, but I won't refund for it. This is how I make my living. Please make sure you really want/need/must have one of my items before purchasing. I want to buy new dolly things too, if you change your mind it takes away from my fun as well. If you absolutely must return something because of buyer's remorse, all shipping costs are on you and the item must be in unmodified, clean, smoke free, resalable condition.

If you are dissatisfied with one of my items because it wasn't as described, or poor quality, simply return it and I will refund you the purchase price + return shipping once the items arrive back in my hands.
I accept payments by money order and all forms of Paypal.

Payments by money order will be shipped once the money order clears. Buyers have 14 days from the date of purchase for the money order to arrive before I mark the order as Non-payment. If it will take longer, please let me know so we can work something out!
Due to COVID19 packages are having unexpected delays. International shipments are especially delayed, and are at risk of becoming lost. Please exercise caution when ordering from outside the USA.

I ship with delivery confirmation by default. If you would like insurance, let me know and I add it on for an additional cost.

Lately a few packages have taken longer than expected to arrive. Please wait at least 10 days within the USA and up to six weeks outside of the USA for packages to arrive before assuming they are lost.

Unless it is a mohair/skin type wig, all of my wigs are made to order. Typically I like to ship within three business days, however as my workload has increased I've had to extend my lead time by a few days.

For international folks, I no longer ship to Italy or France because of customs. I do not mark down customs forms - it is illegal! Please don't ask me to break the law.

Buyers are responsible for customs fees/duties/taxes! I have shipped with great success to the UK, Australia, Singapore, Mexico, and Japan.
Additional policies and FAQs
My rules are not concrete. I work hard to make the best products and listings, but I'm only human. If there is an issue, let me know and I'll do my best to find a fair solution.

Faux furs are made from a fabric that is very diffiult/impossible to dye. The length of the fibers is also set to each type of fabric, I am unable to make the hair longer or shorter.

Currently I am not able to take custom mohair dying orders. Dying is a very new art to me and each mohair wig is unique. Trying to dye a wig to a customer's specs just isn't going to work for me at this stage.

I have excellent feedback on ebay as 1217lori, as well as on the BJD forums Den of Angels as FunnyLori. I have run many many group orders and am very familiar with shipping large volumes of items in a timely manner.
