Hand Knitting by Mara Arber
Knitting has been my passion and hobby for more than 30 years. I sold my first knitting when I was 14 years old.
For a long time I never looked for the chance to sell my works because I'm more a knitter than a seller. But when people saw what I do they asked me to knit something for them. I tried to quit knitting a few times and my biggest break off knitting was about 10 years. It's hard to believe now but I even had no pair of needles and no yarn at home. Nor any craft stuff!
But the times have changed...
All that “disaster” happened again because of the internet and continued because of Etsy :)
I have discovered online yarn stores where I could buy amazing yarns with a single click, talented knitter’s blogs and forums and since then I can't stop. Help me! (just kidding :)
Everything that you can see in my shop is made by me by my own hands. I knit fast and I never stop when I begin to knit something. I have to finish it quickly. I have too many ideas, too much yarn and too little time.
For me the most important is that my customers are satisfied with their orders. I consider my items to be one of a kind and of the highest quality in materials and workmanship, but I try to keep my prices as low as I can.
I often can hear that because it is a handmade piece it can be made imperfectly. This is not my style. Handmade for me is the expression of the highest quality and uniqueness, and of special care I put personally in each and every item and client.

Accepted payment methods
You can pay by Paypal even if you do not have Paypal account, just using your credit card.
Refunds and Exchanges
I would not accept returns of shorts, bikinis and panties, unless there is a workmanship defect in them. This is to protect the customers and ensure these items are absolutely new and not touched by other customers.
I recommend sending the returned package with signature confirmation. If you opt not to use this option, I am not responsible for any damaged, stolen and none received items. - In this case I will not be issuing any refunds.
If the item is not sent within 7 days of return confirmation you have 3 options:
(a) You may receive a full store credit*
(b) You may receive a partial refund of 50% from the priced item.
(c) You may pay for additional Shipping and handling for me to return back the item to you.
*Store Credit is not valid for custom orders and sale items.
Unfortunately, I could not accept returns of custom-made orders, except in case of wrong measures or defects in workmanship.
Additional policies and FAQs
If the modification is substantial, the price may be different, please contact me and we will discuss it.
I completely understand that not everybody knows about the knitting and the knitting process.
There are a few points that I would like to explain, so please see the following questions that I am frequently being asked and the answers to them. If you have any other questions I would be glad to answer them via personal communication on Etsy.
Q: I see your custom orders are more expensive than the complete pieces in your shop. Why is that?
A: All prices in my shop are only for the completed pieces. Custom made things will cost more.
I had people ask me this question a few times. And honestly I believe it is because not everybody can understand the process of knitting/creating and the time it takes to make an item, not just physically making it, but making it to fit well on a body.
Just looking for the suitable yarn (color, fiber type, etc.) can take many hours, sometimes even a couple of days (I buy my yarns on-line).
I take pictures of the completed items and send it to customers before I place it in my shop.
Sometimes messaging back and forth with the customer about details also takes significant amount of my time.
In addition, when I make a custom order, I have to make a custom pattern with custom measurements. Also since it is a unique pattern with different measurements and yarns I have to calculate and knit swatches which takes a lot of time.
The completed items you see in my shop are made on my own schedule, following my inspiration.
Special order means I have to work on your schedule and follow your instructions, so it costs more.
The price is not only the price of the yarn, but also the price of my time and my work and the thought put into each individual piece.
Q: Could I buy my own yarn and make the custom order cheaper this way?
A: Yes! Sometimes people want to provide their own yarn that can make the price of the order lower. And I really appreciate it! This way I have more time to knit instead of searching for the yarns on the internet :)
I can tell you what kind of yarn you will need and how much yarn you should buy. I may assist you with this choice with additional guidance by answering some of your questions. But if you are not experienced in this I would suggest to ask in the local knitting shop that could recommend you the right yarns as they usually have the appropriate experience in the matter. This is a most helpful way to find a great and appropriate yarn.
Q: Could I just send you all the links to the yarns I like and you choose one of them and then I buy it?
A: I am sorry, but please, don't just send me the links of the yarns because I have to check each link thoroughly by reading the knitters’ reviews, reviews about the knitters that wrote these reviews (yes, not all reviews are helpful), looking for how that yarn will look in the ready piece and more, and more... Choosing the right yarn is a time-consuming and complicated task. This is why I recommend to consult the local yarn shop which usually have the appropriate experience and knowledge in the matter and could assist you more efficiently.
Alternatively, I could choose the yarn for you and purchase it, but since I would be spending my time on it, it would increase the overall price somewhat.
Q: I like the item in the store, but I need it in the different size, a bit shorter/longer/wider. Could you change it by just a couple of inches?
A: Unfortunately, the pieces in the store are completed works, and generally can not be changed to a different size. You could always ask about the specific item but the answer would usually be that different size requires a custom order, which I would be more than happy to make for you. Most of my pieces I knit for the store are in sizes XS-S-M because I have the mannequin for these sizes and I can demonstrate on it. However, I have made custom orders for all sizes, just send me your measures (you will be instructed in detail after you make your order) and I’ll make it fit.
