About

I started making beads back in 2011. I don't come from a jewelery making background at all. In fact I rarely wear any jewelery. But I had gone to a craft show and one of the first tables I stopped at had these amazing pieces made with beads like I had never seen before. As we were talking and she was telling me she actually made the beads!! I was flabbergasted!! I went home and spent 2 weeks online learning everything I could about Lampworking. I bought some very basic supplies; a hothead torch and a couple rods of black and white glass. Since then, I have expanded my studio. I now work with a Nortel Minor torch that runs on oxygen and propane and have many other tools and gadgets including a Glass Hive Kiln that enable me to make my beads. If you enjoy making jewelery or like to incorporate beads into other creative projects, then I'm your girl!! You will find a variety of items in my shop that I actually have a hard time stocking as I also sell through facebook. Send me a convo any time if you have questions about my shop, my process, or beads I've made that you want but don't see in my shop.

Thanks so much for stopping in and thank you for allowing me to create for you!!

I'm a Canadian girl living in the U.S. and I make lampwork beads. Pencil thin rods of glass are melted in a special torch and this molten glass is hand wound around a stainless steel mandrel.

Welcome and thank you for stopping in to GabysGlassworks. All of my beads are made in my little studio near Cherry Hill New Jersey. I work with soda lime glass and beads are made one by one by melting and winding the glass onto a mandrel which in the end, forms the bead hole. One bead can take anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour or longer to make. My prices reflect the time taken to make the bead and the cost of the glass. All pieces are placed into a kiln where they are kept at a high temperature for several hours and then very slowly the heat is allowed to cool over many hours. This helps to stabilize the glass and remove any stress fractures.
