About

Celtic Jewelry Created With Hammer & Anvil

There is something wonderful and fascinating about hand crafted jewelry that is soulfully created one piece at a time. The magical transcendence of energy that transforms bits of metal into something that is soulful and timeless speaks to the heart of every woman who by nature has a desire for loveliness and beauty.

For most all of Ted’s life he has been a metal fabricator and metalsmith by trade. Around 2008 he began a journey away from designing big and large metal equipment to one that brought him back to his workbench. He set out to discover and explore the gift of art through creative avocations.

This adventure has taken us on a journey into the utilization of ancient techniques to coax the secrets locked away in the metals and the minerals of the earth through various persuasions in order to delight and mystify our senses.

We soon realized that we had a growing number of gorgeous Celtic style hand forged jewelry collecting on the workbench. We began talking about the idea of opening a shop on Etsy which we did in 2009.

Well, life has many unexpected possibilities and it would be another year before our odyssey would bring us to a place where we would actively take on the work of filling our shop with our hand forged jewelry. And in February 2010 Gaelic Forge was officially open for business.

After children getting married, grandchildren being born and downsizing our home this new chapter in our lives evolved with perfect timing.

Ted and I have always shared a love of nature and all the gifts that Mother Nature has placed before us. We grow closer through our business and our love for our family as we venture forth each day into the wonderment about us.

Welcome! A little more about us:

Ted – I was born and raised in California and grew up working alongside my dad, using tools and making repairs to keep things running. I worked on farm machinery all my life and have built and maintained packing equipment from the ground up. After the personal computer boom I spent several years building and supporting PC’s. I went full circle working with metal and in 2009 I turned my attention to that elusive fifth element we reach for in creative endeavors found in the simple pleasures of art.

Violet – I was born in California’s Bay Area and raised in the vast wilderness of 360 acres. I spent years hiking over hills and down through gully’s, along creeksides and discovered forgotten corners of the ranch. My relationship with the earth grew with the soft breezes, the echoing valleys and the sounds of various living things about the hills.

I am the photographer and uploader here at Gaelic Forge as well as the packer and shipper. I handle most of the convos and communication here in the shop and post in the forums. My creative challenge is to continue working to develop skill to photograph our hand forge jewelry.

Welcome to our shop, we are very glad to have you here!

We are Ted & Violet, husband and wife team, working together to bring you an inspirational and never ending collection of creative assemblages brought forth from heart and soul!

Celtic style jewelry is created at Gaelic Forge with flame and anvil. We exchange ideas and suggestions as we work together to bring you the best from our little place here in California. We are situated on the western side of the beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountains. Each and every day inspiration rolls down upon us from God’s wondrous earth!

When Ted comes home from work he goes to the shop to unwind as he rolls out ideas in Celtic fashion. He doesn’t like to repeat designs; all pieces are different, unique, beautiful and truly original. All pieces are made for women who possess these same characteristics: different, unique, beautiful and original.

Favorite materials of Gaelic Forge are bits and pieces of various reclaimed metals with copper being our most favorite of all. Added to this are a selection of beads, stones, crystals and glass pearls, all coming together in a wonderful artistic Celtic style that no creative woman can resist!

Our handmade jewelry is inspired by the elements: flame, water, earth and sky. You can see the dynamic energy of these elements as you look into the jewelry created here at Gaelic Forge. Each piece is a small rendering from the soul of an artist.

Come back often, browse around and always know you are welcome to pull up a chair and stay awhile!

Thank you for supporting Handmade!

CUSTOM WORK

All our hand forged Celtic style jewelry is created one piece at a time. We work with different metals, stones and beads as well as various patina processes. Each one of our handcrafted treasures is created in a manner that is truly one-of-a-kind.

Although there may be similarities in our Celtic jewelry, it is very seldom that we are able to offer the same design more than once. This is due to the unique handmade process that goes into each and every piece of our hand forged jewelry.

On occasion we have worked to replicate a particular piece, but due to the highly unique process we use there will still be variations and differences. Similar but not the same.

Much of our jewelry is so distinctively different that it is near impossible to do again.
If you see something in our shop that has found its way to your heart and ask us to repeat a design, we may or may not be able to do so.

If we attempt to recreate a design, chances are very good that we will have created another objet d’art!
