Some things Celtic ~ some things "knot"
Dia dhuit, and thanks for stopping by! Relax, sip on a cup of tea or a mug of coffee and feel free to browse my shoppe. Inside is just a small array of my hand crafted plaques, unique gifts and art from my Boston gailearai (gallery) and studio. Each item has been individually and distinctively crafted ~ from using unique metallic photo paper to wood tags that I have stained by hand. I seek the best quality 100% USA cotton and wool for my crocheted/knitted crafts. Eco-friendly products are used whenever possible to help reduce my carbon footprint in this crazy world.
Recently, I've added a small selection of my 100% natural hand made soaps that are made in small batches to ensure quality and freshness. These soaps are made the "old fashioned way". I use no artificial ingredients, preservatives, synthetics, chemicals, sulfates, dyes or animal products. Safe for sensitive skin, children and pets. Look for discounts offered on multiple purchases of soap!
Shop in my "ON SALE NOW" section. Sale items change often. Some things may be here today but "knot" tomorrow. :)
I ship quickly (usually within 48 hours unless made-to-order) and I use the most economical methods to save you money. Look for special offers on combined purchases, reserve requests and "need more" items to receive discounts.
Thanks for shopping small business and buying handmade~

GailearaiGetchell© ... (Gaelic for Getchell Gallery) a long time in the making
When I was in the fifth grade, I was excited to enter a sketch in our school art fair. I loved to draw with pencil, and I thought about the theme for several days before making up my mind. After numerous sketches. I decided to create a hula girl wearing a grass skirt dancing under a palm tree. My palm tree and the grass skirt looked so realistic! To make my hula girl more lifelike, I added a small "dot" where her navel should be and a little "Y" for a cleavage.
I was so proud to bring my sketch to school to enter into the fair, but the nun that was coordinating the art show (oh yes, did I mention that I attended a Parochial School?) told me that I had to cover the navel and erase the cleavage line. She said it was a disgrace that I would want to enter something like that in a family themed art fair. I respectfully refused, citing my right as an "artist" (in fifth grade??) to enter the picture as is. Unfortunately, the nun did not agree and my entry was denied.
Fast forward to today ... I still have strong feelings about the work I create. I love to sketch, paint on canvas and to etch my designs on glass and marble. I have always dabbled in art in one form or another. I sketch from my own memories or from photos. I design Celtic themed tattoos, and I love to create computer art.
My interests are wide and varied, but occasionally I still like to create things that make others say "OH"!
As a second generation Irish/American, my Irish roots run deep. Irish landscape, Celtic knots and designs are very much a focal point in my world. Glass etchings, designs on marble, on prints (and yes, designs for skin) ... I love knowing that something I have created may have a permanent place in this world.
