Hi! Gardenaquatics is my shop to sell prints, bags and tiles from Tokyo.
I first studied painting and woodcut. After graduation here, I moved to London and attended post graduate course at the Slade School of Fine Art, U.C.L. My motifs are trees, plants and landscape always. Hampstead Heath was usual walking trail to look for nature for my works. I travelled to Lake district, Fort Williams and Morava in Czech republic. It's so wonderful to stay my being in the depth of beautiful hills and landscape. The landscape inspired my works and encourage my life too.
Eighteen years ago, I painted first time Portuguese azulejo when I happened to assist public art project. The technique and colour have "blue and white" attracted me since. It became one of my most important art method.

About

Print on fabric

Hi, My name is Jun and I am an artist in Tokyo. It's been for almost twenty five years, I am producing works including prints, drawings and tile paintings.
I opened my Etsy shop started with "Etching Aquatint Bag" in 2009.
At the beginning of idea of making, I was trying to use inkjet transfer sheet, that heat iron transfers out put digital images. The outcome looked quite "question", as it lost a sense. Print makers hesitate to print their etching plate, especially "aquatint", directly on fabric or cotton bag, not on paper. It's a risk of damaging the plate and impression fades.
To protect the plate I took chrome plating the surface which is still effectively working after hundreds of printing bags. After several colour trials, I found the best result by printing in blue and white.
In history of industrial technology, there is a tight relation print and fabric products. Woodblock developed along with dying patterns on clothing and flag. Aodo Denzen, for example, one of Japanese etchers during Edo era, sewed tobacco pouch by his print on Sarasa fabric.

If you also try to print your etching plate on fabric, it is advisable that your bag is slightly wet, before printing, and insert blotted printing paper like Arche and tissue paper together. The combination works as cushion to gain the tight impression.
If you succeeded print on bags, let's bring your art to your street! It's fantastic.

Hi everyone,
My studio locates at the north-west of Tokyo. I like Tokyo suburb where I was born and grew up. It embraces hills, mountains, rivers and reservoires. I wake up by bird's singing every morning. On the other hand frogs are disappearing, compare with my childhood. It's sad.
