A delicious fusion of organic ingredients and simple design

Welcome!

We are making a few updates around here. Originally, we made and sold artisan soap as our main focus in the shop, but are limiting and transitioning our line to suit our changing lifestyle. Formerly stationed in Atlanta, Ga, we are now mobile! We're making and selling from the road (in our self converted van home), so making soap is not an option right now, and we're getting creative to deliver some new items that are more realistic to make in a tiny, traveling space. Your products could ship from anywhere in the U.S.! Fortunately, we were able to make face masks to help with the sudden demand this spring. There are still a few staple items available to shop currently. Stay tuned as we develop our new items!

Philosophy - Our products are made and designed with your health and the health of the environment in mind. That means a lot of time, care, and consideration goes into ordering supplies and creating our products. We only use high quality, organic, eco-friendly ingredients, materials, and packaging whenever possible.

Bees - Our products aren't completely vegan because we still choose to use bee by-products. This is because bees are so vital to our livelihood and well-being, but they are currently going extinct due to high levels of pesticides. We believe that using their honey and beeswax supports the beekeepers, like Honey Next Door, who work hard to support a healthy bee population. We believe that using bee products does more good than harm for the species and the environment.

Name - The name for our shop, "Garden Goat", is a marriage of different ideas. First, I love the alliteration of the 2 "G" words and how it sounds. Also, I wanted a name that represented the philosophy and idea of the shop, which is using ingredients found in a garden and staying close to nature. Lastly, I resonate with the goat and its many beautiful, underappreciated attributes. Goats are very clever and observant. They can imitate what they observe and problem solve. I love this stubborn animal and proudly represent our company with this symbol of innocent, natural beings.

Packaging/Shipping - We keep Mother Earth and future generations in mind in our packaging decisions. We are always working towards becoming more eco-friendly and less wasteful. We support an eco-friendly company, Eco-Enclose, for most of our shipping needs as well as reusing packaging when possible. Even their packing tape is biodegradable! We ensure your product arrives safely with the environment in mind. Please recycle/reuse any packaging.

*All ingredients and benefits are listed below each item.

*All products manufactured by the beautifully imperfect human hand, so slight variations in color, shape, and size may occur.

Frequently asked questions
Care instructions

Handmade soaps do not hold up well in the shower. The best way to care for your handmade soap is to store it on some sort of grill so that excess water can drain off, such as a shower caddie. Keep the soap out of water as much as possible for prolonged shelf life.

Custom and personalized orders

We can do custom orders for your next event with personalized labels!

Vegetarian vs. Vegan in GG soap

Vegetarian soap - No animal fat is used in our soaps. Our vegetarian soaps contain animal products such as milk and honey.

Vegan soap - Our vegan soaps are free of any animal products.

Fragrance Oil vs. Essential Oil

Fragrance oil - Fragrance oils are very strong scents used in common household items such as store-bought candles, soaps, and air fresheners. F.O.'s are less expensive. They are synthetically made and have no health benefits. They are simply used to achieve a distinct scent in our soaps. Those with sensitive skin should probably avoid soaps with F.O.'s.

Essential oil - Essential oils are usually all natural fragrances that are extracted from plants using steam distillation. Therapeutic grade essential oils have health benefits that can improve your skin or mood through aromatherapy. They are more expensive.

I would rather use essential oils to create the fragrances in all of my soaps, but some scents are not available in E.O. form.

Synthetic pigments vs. Natural pigments

Synthetic pigments - Synthetic pigments are non natural micas made in a lab. They are used to achieve bright, distinct colors in our soaps.

Natural pigments - We use natural pigments to achieve color through only natural means. These include clays, oils, infused seeds, herbs, and spices. They are usually not as bright, but are beneficial to skin.
