Behind the Lens at Gary Heller Photography
Welcome to my Etsy shop. When I'm not out shooting or in the studio organizing and editing my work, I enjoy printing and fulfilling orders for clients and customers. Seeing a fresh print roll out into the tray from a photograph I had shot and spent hours editing is a satisfying part of the whole process.
I began shooting film in 2003. I would later scan my negatives into hi res digital files and do my editing on the computer.
In 2007 I picked up my first DSLR (Canon rebel XTi) and never looked back.
I currently shoot with Pentax K1 full frame DSLR and edit in Light Room and Photoshop.
I taught myself how to print on a professional level using archival quality papers and inks as well as profiles and a complete color managed workflow. I print exclusively on Ilford and InkPress Pro photographic papers..
Larger prints (exceeding 12x18") as well as the Gallery wraps and Metal prints are done by one of two labs I have used and trusted for years, FAA in NC and El-Co Color Labs in NJ. They use my hi resolution files, set up exactly as I want them printed and are then shipped back to me first for inspection and my signature.
I love to wake up early in the morning to the smell of coffee and a photography road trip on the itinerary.
