Announcement   Welcome to Gemma Beads' Etsy Store. Gemma Beads are unique, handcrafted genuine semi-precious stone bracelets. Gemma Beads bracelets are more than just your average bracelet--each design is made in a limited quantity and designs can be customized to your specification.

Gemma Beads started as a project for the designer, Brooke Patterson, to increase her fine motor skills after being diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome in her left arm. The act of stringing each individual bead and charm provided an opportunity for healing and hope against a painful disorder. The bracelets were such a "hit" at the hospital, that Brooke decided to start selling her bracelets to the public.

For every purchase made, 20% of the proceeds from the bracelet are donated to the Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome Association, an organization that promotes awareness and research in CRPS (for more information about CRPS and this organization go to http://www.rsds.org/2/what_is_rsd_crps/). By purchasing a Gemma Beads bracelet, you are helping others with a painful disease have hope for better treatments and care.

By naming her store Gemma Beads, Brooke pays tribute to St. Gemma Galgani, the patron saint of pain and chronic illness. St. Gemma endured years of chronic pain and illness while maintaining a love of God and a passion for helping others.
