More than a dozen years ago, I started making jewelry--thanks to a bead shop gift certificate my husband gave me on a whim. (Little did he know!)

I look back at my early necklaces and laugh at how simple they were compared to what I make today. But right from the beginning, I absolutely loved the process of combining colors and textures. And as my work grew more complicated, I enjoyed the technical challenges as well.

About a year after I began, I discovered the gorgeous, ultra complex designs of Miriam Haskell's jewelry company, which flourished mid-century. I fell in love with all kinds of vintage components that were her designers' hallmarks--baroque faux pearls, art glass beads, rhinestones, filigree, and chain. Luckily, at that time I also discovered warehouses in NYC and online shops where you could buy the unused components from vintage jewelry makers. My course was set!

The core of my work is inspired by Haskell's designers, but I often veer into other vintage styles like Czech necklaces and the designs of the Neiger brothers. And every once in a while, I borrow ideas from tribal necklaces, especially from eastern Europe, Asia, and Africa. I treasure the variety of beautiful beads from around the world.

It is pure joy to think of my necklaces adorning more than 300 women around the country. I trust they love wearing these pieces as much as I've loved making them!
