On Etsy since 2009

We're a husband and wife team, making hand knotted jewelry. We vend locally during season. (We're in Florida so "season" runs October-May.)

I first started tying knots in the early 70s, when we "all" were making owl wall hangings, plant hangers, belts, purses...well anything we could think of. Then...I discovered jewelry and I never made another plant hanger. I love creating "wearable art" for customers to enjoy!

Jim has fun making paracord and leather bracelets and some wire wrap.

In addition to our hand-knotted creations, we sell some vintage jewelry and jewelry-making supplies online.

Thanks for stopping by!

Welcome to GemsandKnots where you find an eclectic collection of vintage and contemporary beads, buttons, pendants, charms, and other pretties. Got questions? Just ask!

Accepted payment methods

Returns and exchanges
We want you to be happy with your purchase so please ask any questions you might have before you buy.

Unless otherwise stated, everything vintage that we sell is in uncirculated condition, commonly referred to as NOS (New Old Stock) for vintage items. We do not clean, polish, or wash beads, pendants, charms, etc. Vintage brass, for example, usually has a "patina" from aging. Some buyers like this, others prefer to we leave the decision to you.

You may sometimes find minor flaws or imperfections on vintage items, however these are not considered defects. Most of our buttons were handmade in the Czech Republic so there will be small differences in the craftsmanship, button to button. We carefully inspect and sort incoming shipments and will never deliberately sell defective merchandise.

Please keep in mind that computer monitor settings vary so the color of the item(s) you receive many not exactly "match" your monitor settings.

If there are any problems with your order, please give us opportunity to make it right for you before you leave feedback. "Perfection" is always our goal!

We allow returns if an item is significantly not as described or an item is defective (see above). If you should receive something you think is not as described or is seriously defective, please let me know right away.

Shipping and handling charges are not reimbursed on returned merchandise unless the reason for your return is the result of an error on our part. You must contact us first before returning any package.
Payment due at time of purchase. We currently accept PayPal. (Thank you!)
We ship most orders within 48 hours (2 business days) of receipt of payment.

Domestic USPS mail is $3.50 (first item) plus $0.50 (each additional item). Priority Mail is also available. If you purchase multiple items where shipping equals or exceeds Priority Mail Flat Rate, we will upgrade to Priority and refund the overage.

Please make sure your address is correct. We send to PayPal "confirmed" addresses only. We are not responsible for non-delivery if you do not provide your correct address. Sorry, but we do not offer international shipping at this time.
Additional policies and FAQs
Customers often ask about different types of plastics, including "Lucite." If you'd like a detailed description, you might want to read "The Lucite Story" at centurymfg (dotcom). Jim's 40-year career was in moldmaking where he worked with all types of plastics.
