About

I make salad bowls, pepper mills, and one of a kind sculptural forms using native wood from East Tennessee.

I have always enjoyed working with wood, and in 2001, I was introduced to woodturning. I have learned the craft by taking classes at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, and the Kentucky School of Craft. I have learned from mentors, videos, demonstrations, books, and countless hours of trial and error at the lathe. I am a member of Art Market Gallery, a regional artist cooperative; Foothills Craft Guild; American Association of Woodturners.

In addition to etsy, I sell my work at juried craft shows, Art Market Gallery (artmarketgallery.net), and the gift shop at Blackberry Farm, Walland, TN. I have grown my hobby into a part time business. My goal is to make heirloom woodturnings that my customers will enjoy for decades. I keep an eye on proportions and pleasing curves while combining exquisite wood grain and form.

All of the wood that I use is native to East Tennessee. The trees were blown down by storms or cut down by the homeowners. I especially enjoy recycling these logs, otherwise destined for the landfill or the fireplace, into functional or decorative art.

My wife and I live on 15 acres, surrounded by woods, in our LEED certified home. I enjoy growing our own vegetables, tending the chickens, and cooking. My woodturning, and especially the salad bowls I create, is intertwined with the idea of simple living and enjoying high quality, home grown food.

Hello friends! I create heirloom functional pieces and sculptural forms that will last for decades with a little care. My functional ware is food safe. After each use, gently wash in warm water, towel dry, and if necessary apply a very light coat of mineral oil or walnut oil.

All my creations are made from wood that is native to East Tennessee. These trees were knocked down by storms or cut down by homeowners. I enjoy recycling these logs into functional or decorative forms from wood that would otherwise be burned or trucked to the landfill

Additional policies and FAQs
Bowls make great wedding gifts. On most of my work, for an additional fee, I can sand off my signature and engrave the names of the bride and groom and the wedding date. I then re-apply a finish to the foot of the bowl. I can usually complete the process in one week. Send me a message for more details.
